Job Description

Gallaher Signature Living is a distinguished provider of senior living communities in California, known for redefining what it means to age well. With a foundation built on compassion, elegance, and excellence, Gallaher Signature Living offers an exceptional living experience for active adults through its variety of residential communities. These communities include Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care services, all designed to support residents in a thoughtfully crafted environment that encourages connection, engagement, and personalized care. The company's support office is based in Windsor, California, and it currently operates communities in Santa Rosa, Alameda, Moorpark, and Covina, catering to different needs and preferences of senior adults seeking quality living arrangements.

The Sous Chef role at Gallaher Signature Living is a vital position within this innovative community. This role centers on delivering a refined, restaurant-quality dining experience that aligns with the company's mission, values, and commitment to hospitality excellence. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals in accordance with approved menus, resident preferences, and strict adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including California Title 22. This position offers salary compensation in the range of $22.00 to $24.00 per hour and operates on a Sunday through Thursday schedule.

You will have the opportunity to engage directly with residents to provide a personalized dining experience, ensuring their preferences and dietary needs are met with care and creativity. The role demands supervising daily culinary operations in the absence of the Executive Chef, ensuring consistency, quality, safety, and compliance in all food preparation and service activities. It also entails maintaining sanitation and food safety standards complying with ServSafe, California Title 22, and local health department regulations.

In addition to food preparation duties, the Sous Chef plays an essential role in planning and executing special events, private functions, and community celebrations, supporting marketing efforts, and fostering positive impressions for prospective residents and their families. The responsibility includes managing food purchasing, inventory, proper storage, and waste reduction to align with budgetary and operational goals. Leadership duties involve assisting in hiring, scheduling, training, supervising culinary staff, and promoting a collaborative team culture.

The role requires effective communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to resident well-being, including prompt reporting of sanitation or safety issues and participation in required trainings, certifications, and meetings. The Sous Chef is expected to demonstrate flexibility in scheduling to meet community needs, including weekends and holidays, and uphold the community’s hospitality values in every interaction.

Being part of Gallaher Signature Living means joining a passionate and forward-thinking team dedicated to shaping the future of senior living. The company offers a range of benefits, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options for full-time employees, life insurance, 401(k) plans with employer matching, paid time off, and opportunities for career advancement. Comprehensive training and a supportive work environment ensure that every team member can contribute meaningfully to the community’s vision of aging well with dignity and joy.
