Job Description

The Daily Catch is a renowned family-owned Sicilian seafood and pasta institution that was founded in 1973 in Boston's historic North End. Known for its authentic East Coast flavors and exceptional craftsmanship, The Daily Catch has built a strong reputation over nearly 50 years with three restaurants based in Boston as well as a seafood wholesale business. Bringing that same dedication to quality and authenticity to the West Coast, the company is excited to open its first California restaurant in Pasadena in the spring of 2026. This new location will feature an 80-seat dining space and serve fresh New England seafood flown in multiple times each week, prepared following classic Sicilian recipes that have been honed and perfected over generations.

The Daily Catch Pasadena is hiring a full-time Sous Chef to play a vital role in supporting the culinary operations of this highly anticipated restaurant opening. The position offers an hourly pay range of 30 to 37 dollars, with the salary subject to review based on experience and qualifications. The ideal candidate for the Sous Chef role is a passionate, hands-on culinary leader who is enthusiastic about seafood and Italian cuisine and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This person will work closely alongside the Head Chef to maintain consistency, quality, and operational excellence within the kitchen. Additionally, the Sous Chef will help foster a positive kitchen culture aligned with The Daily Catch brand values—where passion for food, respect for tradition, and a commitment to team success are paramount.

As Sous Chef, responsibilities encompass overseeing back-of-house activities including preparation, service, sanitation, and safety protocols to ensure smooth daily operations. The candidate will be instrumental in mentoring and leading the kitchen team, leveraging their leadership skills to elevate performance and morale. Managing inventory, food costing, and vendor coordination will be part of the role to sustain operational efficiency and profitability. Creating and executing seasonal specials that blend the East Coast seafood heritage with fresh California ingredients will be another exciting aspect of the job. The Sous Chef will also step up to lead the kitchen during the Head Chef's absence, ensuring continuity and adherence to the brand's high standards in quality, presentation, and hospitality.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a culinary professional with 5 to 7 years of kitchen experience, preferably including prior leadership roles such as Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook, and a strong background in seafood and Italian cooking. The Daily Catch values solid communication and organizational abilities, the capacity to work under pressure, and the flexibility to accommodate a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays. Joining The Daily Catch means becoming part of a culture that blends Sicilian passion with Boston grit, where food is more than just a meal—it's a legacy shared among dedicated professionals who care deeply about their craft, customers, and colleagues. This is your chance to help write the next chapter in an iconic East Coast seafood story coming to life on the West Coast.
