Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- culinary degree or substantial culinary experience
- at least three years as a professional chef
- supervisory experience
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to perform physical labor related to large-scale food preparation
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to maintain professionalism and set boundaries
- ability to work non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays
- proficiency with basic computing devices preferred
- punctual and reliable
- ability to complete administrative tasks accurately
- willingness to learn and grow
- pr/first aid certification within 3 months of hire preferred
- commitment to social justice and organizational mission
- ability to remain alert and attentive during shifts
Job Qualifications
- culinary degree or equivalent experience
- minimum three years experience as a chef
- experience supervising and training kitchen staff
- knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling procedures
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- experience working with chemically dependent adults preferred
- ability to manage physical demands of volume cooking including lifting 50 pounds
- ability to respond calmly to emergencies
- proficiency or willingness to learn information and communication technologies
- commitment to organizational values
- proficiency in a second language strongly desired
- experience in non-profit or community service settings preferred
- pr/first aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain within three months
Job Duties
- assist with the training and supervision of kitchen assistants and dishwashers
- provide timely and regular feedback on staff performance
- ensure staff demonstrate good customer service skills and treat all individuals with dignity and respect
- facilitate team huddles for staff as needed
- complete reports and paperwork neatly and thoroughly
- enter and manage data electronically
- prepare nutritious, creative, and well-presented meals for residents and staff
- maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in kitchen areas and equipment
- ensure compliance with food safety and stock rotation procedures
- assist with menu development, planning, and food ordering
- monitor supplies and utilize donated foods appropriately
- maintain a safe kitchen environment by observing safety procedures and identifying hazards
- participate in team meetings and support effective communication
- work collaboratively with team members to achieve program goals
- manage stress and maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations
- communicate openly and respectfully with colleagues
- demonstrate integrity and cooperation in representing St. Anthony's
