The Sommelier position at RPM Italian is a key role responsible for managing the restaurant's wine program to enhance the guest experience. As a Wine Steward or Sommelier, you will be entrusted with the selection, selling, and serving of bottled wines, requiring a current Sommelier certification. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of wine varieties, the ability to communicate effectively with both guests and staff, and the skill to support the restaurant's culinary offerings with well-paired wine selections. The Sommelier plays an essential role in ensuring the wine inventory is properly maintained, conducting wine tastings, providing education and training for the team, and leading the wine service operations. This position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, can manage multiple tasks with calm efficiency, and who values teamwork and excellent guest care. The Sommelier is also responsible for fostering professional relationships with wine purveyors and must adhere to ethical standards by not accepting gifts or cash for wine or liquor orders. Job Requirements

- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends

- Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to lift and move wine bottles safely
- Experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting preferred

Job Duties
- Order and sell wine for the restaurant
- Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
- Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment
- Ability to effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
- Ability to multi-task calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
- Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels
- Able to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfaces
