Within this esteemed environment, the Sommelier position plays a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience by providing expert beverage service. The Sommelier is responsible for leading the service team in wine, beverage, and cigar recommendations, sales, and proper service execution, ensuring guests receive personalized attention and the highest level of satisfaction. This role involves not only direct interaction with guests but also vital backstage functions such as wine list maintenance, beverage inventory management, stock receiving, and staff training. The Sommelier must possess a deep understanding of various wines, beers, cocktails, and cigars, paired with excellent communication skills to champion the beverage offerings.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or above
  • minimum 2 years of experience in a fine-dining restaurant
  • court of master sommeliers level 1 certification
  • age 21 or above
  • ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
  • knowledge of wine service, champagne, mixed cocktails, cordials, after dinner drinks, upselling, and tableside service
  • proficiency in POS software
  • ability to obtain and maintain required licenses or work cards
  • ability to work in loud and fast-paced environment
  • good physical stamina and ability to lift 30 pounds
  • well-groomed appearance and professional demeanor

  • must be able to obtain and maintain any licensing or active work cards required for this position
  • willing to work in a loud and fast-paced environment
  • consistently maintain a well-groomed appearance, posture and hygiene
  • makeup, technique and style should stay current and in line with management standards
  • experience in bottle service preferred but not required
  • high school diploma or above
  • fluent spoken and written English
  • proficient in POS software

Job Duties

  • Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner with eye contact and intention
  • communicate the needs of guests to co-workers, kitchen, and management
  • actively participate and contribute to pre-shift meetings
  • have complete knowledge of all food menu items, specifications, and allergies
  • display mastery in understanding and exceptional communication of the wine list, beer list, and cocktail offerings
  • form, grow, and maintain relationships with members and guests for repeat business
  • consistently follow sequence of service utilizing all proper procedures standardized by the room management
