Job Description

Tao Group Hospitality is a globally recognized leader in the luxury lifestyle and culinary entertainment sector. With a diverse portfolio that includes restaurants, nightclubs, lounges, and daylife venues, Tao Group Hospitality offers a distinct blend of premium experiences across more than 80 branded locations spread over 20 markets across four continents. In April 2021, Tao Group Hospitality expanded its footprint by acquiring the prestigious Hakkasan Group, further solidifying its position as a titan within the hospitality industry. The company’s portfolio features world-renowned brands such as TAO, Hakkasan, OMNIA, Marquee, LAVO, Beauty & Essex, Wet Republic, Yauatcha, Ling Ling, Cathédrale, Little Sister, The Highlight Room, Sake No Hana, Jewel, among others. Tao Group Hospitality operates under the larger umbrella of Mohari Hospitality, an investment firm that specializes in luxury lifestyle and hospitality sectors, consistently elevating experiences for guests through innovative culinary and entertainment concepts. The role of the Sommelier at Tao Group Hospitality is a critical position dedicated to enhancing the guest experience through exceptional wine and beverage knowledge and service. The Sommelier actively takes wine and beverage orders while demonstrating expertise in the wine and beverage menus, assisting guests by advising on pairings that complement and elevate their dining experience. This role requires interaction with guests, team members, and supervisors in a polite, courteous, and hospitable manner to ensure an atmosphere of gracious hospitality. Key responsibilities include anticipating and accommodating guest needs, maintaining the cleanliness and preparedness of stations and the entire venue, and providing professional and exceptional service aligning with the company’s standards. The Sommelier must possess an in-depth understanding of the entire food and beverage menus as well as comprehensive knowledge of the venue’s wine list. Expertise in classic and creative wine and food pairings is essential, alongside the ability to assist or lead staff education sessions. The Sommelier ensures that all alcoholic beverages are served in compliance with state regulations and alcohol awareness training standards, while also following health department guidelines. This role also demands collaborative teamwork—communicating effectively with front-of-house and back-of-house teams to meet guest needs and ensure smooth venue operations. The position includes operational duties such as preparing and maintaining ice buckets, organizing side stations with sufficient stemware and decanters, and managing wine storage areas to ensure optimal organization. The Sommelier accurately completes end-of-shift wine sales reports and attends daily pre-service meetings, training sessions, and departmental meetings to continually refine skills and knowledge. Working as a Sommelier in the dynamic and fast-paced environments of restaurants, lounges, and nightclubs requires a positive professional attitude, adaptability, and physical stamina to meet the demands of bending, kneeling, lifting, and standing for extended periods. The company provides in-venue sommelier training to develop skill sets further and supports staff in maintaining a professional, neat, and polished appearance in line with company standards. This position offers a wage of $20 per hour plus tips and a bonus structure, reflecting the responsibility and expertise required to deliver outstanding service. The Sommelier plays a vital role in enhancing the brand’s reputation for outstanding hospitality and contributing to an exceptional guest experience at every Tao Group Hospitality venue.
