Job Requirements

  • At least twenty-one years of age
  • Knowledge of wines, spirits, and wine production regions, including a deep understanding of grape varieties, vintages, and wine-making processes
  • Certification from a recognized wine education program
  • Proven experience working as a sommelier in a high-end restaurant or hospitality environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to inspire people to embrace different cultures of the world

Job Qualifications

  • Certification from a recognized wine education program, such as the Court of Master Sommeliers or the Wine and Spirit Education Trust
  • Proven experience working as a sommelier in a high-end restaurant or hospitality environment is preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate guests and staff about wine
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and creating memorable experiences for guests
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required

Job Duties

  • Develop and maintain an extensive wine list, ensuring a diverse selection of quality wines that cater to guests' preferences and budgets
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, new wine releases, and emerging regions to continuously enhance the wine program
  • Conduct wine tastings, educate staff, and provide recommendations to guests based on their preferences and menu offerings
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create wine and food pairing suggestions that enhance the dining experience
  • Assist in procurement and storage of wines, ensuring proper inventory management and adherence to quality standards
  • Train and mentor staff on wine knowledge, service techniques, and sales strategies to enhance their ability to provide exceptional customer service
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere in the wine cellar or tasting room, ensuring a memorable experience for guests
