Job Requirements

  • Must be minimum legal age to serve alcohol
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Basic computational ability
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of POS system
  • Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware
  • Ability to describe menu items, prices and preparation methods
  • Use suggestive selling techniques
  • Follow service guidelines in the Front Server Manual
  • Knowledge of dinner menu matrix, cuisine, beverage and wine specifications
  • Ability to stand and move for at least 8 hours
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and physical demands including lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Must maintain a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance
  • Ability to perform job duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-4 years of fine dining leadership experience
  • Knowledge of service, food and beverage with at least 5 years of dining room service
  • Extensive food and wine knowledge
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong dedication to learning and motivation to progress in fine dining
  • Excellent basic math skills
  • Proficiency with cash register POS and Microsoft computer systems
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and strong financial acumen
  • Impeccable grooming and hygiene
  • Ability to respond constructively to feedback
  • MS Level II certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Act with integrity, honesty and promote the culture and values of Sorelle
  • Ensure all guests feel welcome and receive responsive, professional, gracious service at all times
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations in line with the restaurant's philosophy and standards
  • Recognize and offer positive solutions for staff and restaurant improvements
  • Operate daily with efficiency, respect, friendliness, professionalism, teamwork, knowledge, patience, awareness, compassion, courtesy and initiative
  • Understand all programs, procedures, standards and training thoroughly
  • Represent the restaurant professionally through effective communication and relationships with business partners
  • Recommend and sell wine to guests on the floor
  • Manage inventory and maintenance of the wine cellar
  • Oversee and assist front of house team elements of service
  • Facilitate cooperation among Sommeliers, Captains and managers
  • Describe dinner features and menu changes
  • Communicate VIP procedures and special requests to management and kitchen
  • Conduct ongoing wine training for service team and new hires
  • Participate in Pre-Shift meetings to learn new menu items
  • Liaise with servers to ensure guest needs are met
  • Assist the Chef in expediting food to the dining room
  • Ensure consistent food and product quality
  • Maintain a clean and safe dining environment
  • Comply fully with health, safety and labor regulations
  • Train and mentor new colleagues in wine knowledge
  • Supervise restaurant operation and guest satisfaction during service
  • Support the service team including setup, presentation, order taking, food delivery and wine service
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and gather feedback
  • Record nightly service information and complete logs
