Job Requirements

  • Maintain a clean, well-organized wine cellar in accordance with company standards
  • recommend wine and beverage pairings
  • upsell table and retail wine offerings
  • keep staff updated on beverage list changes
  • assist with monthly inventory
  • know and defend product brands
  • identify table and seat numbers
  • maintain station cleanliness
  • understand cocktail lists and beverage facts
  • demonstrate proper wine opening and tableside service standards
  • provide warm, knowledgeable and appreciative guest interactions
  • accommodate guests individually
  • maintain professionalism and composure
  • promptly report issues to management
  • be aware of service flow and dining timing
  • implement and follow steps of service
  • respond promptly to guest needs
  • oversee activities of team members at station
  • work flexible shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years sommelier experience in a fast-paced restaurant
  • extensive knowledge of wine, winemaking, beer and spirits
  • ability to consistently deliver high-quality guest experiences
  • strong work ethic and team player
  • exceptional guest service skills
  • proficiency in English including reading, writing and communication
  • ability to operate POS systems
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Recommend wine and beverage pairings to guests
  • upsell both tableside offerings and retail wine offerings
  • maintain a clean, well-organized wine cellar
  • keep staff informed of beverage changes
  • assist with monthly inventory
  • maintain station cleanliness
  • respond to guest needs by taking orders, running food, and bussing tables
