Following the success of their establishments in Buenos Aires and Miami Beach, FAENA is expanding to New York City with a spectacular new location at 500 West 18th Street overlooking the iconic High Line. Within this inspiring environment, the role of Sommelier is vital to curating an exceptional dining experience. The Sommelier at FAENA is charged with guiding guests expertly through a carefully selected wine list, making insightful recommendations that enhance each meal with perfect pairings. This position requires a deep knowledge of global wines, mastery in pairing techniques, and exceptional guest engagement skills, contributing to the elevated atmosphere and service culture that FAENA is celebrated for. The role is full-time, offering an hourly wage of $20.00 plus tips, and demands a professional committed to excellence, sophistication, and personalized hospitality. The Sommelier’s duties extend beyond basic service to encompass wine inventory management, educational events, supplier liaison, and close collaboration with culinary teams to maintain an innovative and evolving wine program that captivates the FAENA clientele. Job Requirements
- Certified Sommelier designation required (Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET Level 3, or equivalent)
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Sommelier in a fine dining or luxury hospitality setting
- Proficiency in wine list management including inventory control and cost analysis
- Strong understanding of classic and modern wine pairing techniques
- Exceptional ability to engage with guests and provide a personalized experience
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Fluency in English
- Ability to collaborate with chefs and beverage directors
- Knowledge of local and state alcohol service regulations
- Physical ability to handle medium work including lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally
