The role of Sommelier at The Driskill Bar & Grill is a prestigious position central to delivering an exceptional wine experience. The Sommelier will be entrusted with curating and maintaining a comprehensive wine program, ensuring the curation reflects both classic selections and innovative offerings to engage guests with diverse preferences. This individual will be the knowledgeable expert guiding guests through wine pairings that complement the menu, enhancing each dining experience and creating memorable moments.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Advanced knowledge of wine spirits and beverage service
  • Prior experience as a sommelier or in a wine-focused service role preferred
  • Sommelier certification (CMS WSET or equivalent) preferred
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to stay calm and work efficiently under pressure
  • Ability to manage time prioritize tasks and multitask effectively
  • Active TABC Certificate
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Curate and maintain the restaurant's wine program including selection organization and inventory
  • Provide thoughtful wine recommendations tailored to guest preferences and menu offerings
  • Educate guests and staff on wine varietals regions pairings and tasting notes
  • Ensure proper storage handling and service of wine according to standards
  • Collaborate with culinary and service teams to enhance overall guest experience
  • Maintain standards of food and beverage quality and service
  • Anticipate and address guest needs and concerns with professionalism and warmth
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding wine inventory trends and guest feedback
  • Complete all side work and administrative tasks as assigned
  • Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned
