Job Description
Our company is a leading laundry service provider specializing in the processing and cleaning of textiles for various industries including hospitality, healthcare, and industrial sectors. With a strong commitment to efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction, we handle large volumes of soiled linen and textiles daily to ensure timely and hygienic delivery back to our clients. Our facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art washing and sorting technology, allowing us to maintain high production standards in a fast-paced environment.
We are currently seeking dedicated and hardworking Soiled Laundry Sorters to join our dynamic team. This is a crucial role within our operations department, responsible for sorting returned soiled linen into appropriate categories before washing. The sorter plays a key part in maintaining the flow and quality of our laundry services by ensuring that all linens are correctly classified, facilitating efficient washing and processing. Given the physical nature of the job, our ideal candidates are capable of handling heavy loads, standing for extended periods, and working in a fast-paced production environment.
As a Soiled Laundry Sorter, you will be primarily engaged in opening customer returned soil bags, which typically weigh around 45 pounds, discarding plastic materials, and spreading the linen out on soil belts for visibility and sorting accuracy. Operators on the sorting platform float between multiple positions, moving along the belt to place the soiled items into correct bins or slots based on type and soil classification. There is a production standard to meet: 45 bags or approximately 2000 pounds should be processed per hour by each operator. Additionally, you will be responsible for moving empty carts to designated areas for cleaning and reuse, supporting the overall workflow within the laundry operation.
In this role, attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount. Sorting must be carried out efficiently, but with caution, especially when encountering unfamiliar or unusual items in soil bags. When such items are found, the incumbent must follow specified protocols to dispose of them properly to maintain quality and safety standards. Maintenance issues with equipment should be promptly reported, and any broken carts tagged for repair to ensure smooth production processes.
The Involvement in decision-making ranges from seeking approval for any unusual situations or deviations from normal operations to making independent decisions related to disposing of non-standard items, calling for maintenance, and tagging equipment for repairs. This role typically requires a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and the ability to work cooperatively with team members and supervisors.
Work shifts typically begin at 10:00 AM and continue until the job is completed, providing a consistent schedule for employees. The work environment involves exposure to varying temperatures due to the non-conditioned nature of the facility, which may include extreme heat during summer and cold during winter months. The job also involves contact with airborne particles and exposure to blood and body fluids requiring appropriate safety measures and equipment.
Our company prioritizes the well-being of its staff and promotes a safe and inclusive work environment where every team member's contribution is valued. If you are physically fit, detail-oriented, and looking for a stable position within the laundry services industry, this role as a Soiled Laundry Sorter could be the perfect fit for you.
