The Kensington Hotel on State Street is a distinguished boutique hotel nestled just minutes away from downtown Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan. This 200-room property prides itself on offering a unique blend of charm and personalized service, catering primarily to travelers seeking a comfortable yet sophisticated stay. As a prominent player in the hospitality industry, The Kensington Hotel has cultivated a reputation for delivering outstanding guest experiences, providing elegant accommodations, and catering to a diverse clientele including business travelers, leisure guests, and event hosts. Employees at The Kensington benefit from a supportive work environment where teamwork, professionalism, and dedication to guest satisfaction are highly valued. The hotel offers a generous benefits package and a performance-based bonus program, alongside a flexible work schedule that accommodates the dynamic nature of the hospitality sector. The Kensington is committed to maintaining a vibrant community presence and fostering long-term relationships with guests and partners through consistent, high-quality service and innovative hospitality solutions.
The role of Social Sales Manager focusing on the wedding and SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal) markets is an exciting and vital position within The Kensington Hotel. This full-time employment opportunity offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $65,000 per year and requires an energetic and experienced professional to lead sales efforts in these key market segments. The Social Sales Manager will be responsible for generating hotel revenue by soliciting new accounts, securing contracts, and providing impeccable service to clients both on-site and remotely. This role entails coordinating group rooming blocks, filling meeting and banquet spaces, and establishing catering orders in collaboration with various departments. The manager will also negotiate contracts and vendor service agreements to ensure that all client expectations are met or exceeded.
The Social Sales Manager will be expected to actively pursue assigned sales and revenue goals, conduct timely solicitation calls, and offer engaging sales tours to prospective clients. Building and nurturing relationships with existing accounts is essential to drive repeat business and maximize revenue growth. Additionally, the role involves detailed administrative tasks such as preparing banquet event orders and sales reports with accuracy and within set deadlines. The job requires a proactive approach to sales efforts, including eight sales calls, 40 targeted prospecting calls, and eight networking or site visits each month.
Furthermore, the Social Sales Manager will play a strategic role in developing innovative sales and marketing techniques while maintaining up-to-date competitive analysis and account files. Working closely with in-house meeting planners, the incumbent will foster goodwill and encourage additional business opportunities. The position demands active community engagement and participation in industry organizations to enhance the hotel's visibility and market presence. Special promotional campaigns and sales blitzes will also be part of the manager's responsibilities, aimed at targeting direct sales segments effectively.
This role requires an individual who demonstrates excellent communication skills, utmost professionalism, and a customer-oriented mindset. The Social Sales Manager must have a comprehensive understanding of hotel operations and policies and be willing to collaborate across departments to ensure smooth execution of all client events and services. Evening and weekend availability is necessary as dictated by business needs. The Kensington Hotel offers an inclusive and motivating work environment where innovation and dedication to excellence are encouraged and rewarded.
