Job Requirements

  • Must have 2-5 years' prior experience in hotel sales
  • must be proficient in Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite
  • experience with Opera Express helpful
  • must be willing to pitch-in and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player
  • ability to use a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error
  • ability to effectively deal with customers with high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy through negotiations and problem resolution
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and customers
  • ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
  • must have the ability to communicate in English
  • maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2-5 years' prior experience in hotel sales
  • proven track record in achieving sales targets
  • proficiency with Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite
  • experience with Opera Express is helpful
  • excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • effective communication skills in English
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • knowledge of hospitality industry trends and market segmentation

Job Duties

  • Solicit and secure new accounts
  • service clients and groups on-site
  • coordinate group rooming blocks, meeting space, and catering orders
  • perform contract negotiations and vendor service agreements
  • attain assigned sales and revenue goals
  • proactively conduct solicitation calls, sales tours, and client entertainment
  • grow existing client relationships
  • deliver banquet event orders and resumes timely and accurately
  • conduct monthly sales efforts including sales calls, prospecting calls, and site visits
  • develop new potential markets
  • create and implement innovative sales and marketing techniques
  • maintain competitive analysis and account filing systems
  • promote goodwill with in-house meeting planners
  • maintain strong visibility in community and industry organizations
  • drive and implement special sales promotions
  • prepare required sales reports
  • attend departmental meetings
  • communicate operational changes to relevant departments
  • perform additional duties as requested
  • provide attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented guest and employee interactions
  • develop a full working knowledge of hotel operations and policies
  • deliver professional and courteous customer service at all times
