The role available is for a Sous Chef, a critical position within the culinary team at Skyline. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about food preparation and senior living services. The Sous Chef will be responsible for preparing delicious meals that meet a wide array of dietary needs, including therapeutic and modified diets. They will conduct regular quality assurance audits to ensure food excellence and maintain a clean and organized kitchen that complies with King County and DSHS regulations. Additionally, the Sous Chef will cultivate strong professional relationships with food and equipment vendors and play an active role in hiring, training, and evaluating kitchen staff. The position requires some supervisory duties of utility and front-of-house staff and the ability to step in as the Executive Chef when necessary. This role operates on a Wednesday through Sunday schedule from 11 am to 7 pm, offering hourly pay ranging from $24 to $31 depending on experience. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in kitchen management or chef role preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitary food handling practices
  • Ability to prepare meals that meet dietary restrictions
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Completion of recognized food safety training

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a chef or kitchen manager in a senior living community is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with staff and external constituents
  • Ability to prepare therapeutic and modified diets
  • Successful completion of a recognized food safety course

Job Duties

  • Prepare delicious food that meets a variety of dietary needs
  • Conduct regular quality assurance audits to ensure food is well prepared and kitchen is neat and organized
  • Ensure kitchen food safety and sanitary food handling
  • Ensure compliance of King County and DSHS regulations
  • Maintain professional relationships with food and equipment vendors
  • Participate in hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of kitchen staff
  • Assist with supervising utility and front-of-house staff as needed
  • Create a motivating environment that encourages team members to be involved, creative, and problem solving
  • Act as Executive Chef in their absence
  • Perform other duties as assigned
