Job Description
VPA is a transportation services company based in Rochester, NY, specializing in safe and reliable shuttle services for local communities and organizations. With a committed team and emphasis on passenger safety, VPA operates a fleet of passenger vehicles, providing essential shuttle services especially targeting college students through safe ride programs. The company values both professional expertise and community safety, positioning itself as a trusted partner in local transportation. Known for its efficient operational practices, VPA offers weekly payroll options including checks, direct deposit, or pay cards to ensure employees are compensated promptly and conveniently.
We are currently seeking dedicated shuttle drivers to work overnight shifts from 10:30 PM to 5:30 AM, primarily providing transportation services to students of a local college in Rochester. These positions are part-time with flexibility in scheduling, allowing drivers to work 2, 3, or 5 nights per week, with a specific need for coverage on Friday and Saturday nights. Full-time roles can potentially be crafted based on desired working hours beyond the overnight schedule.
This role does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and non-CDL drivers start at a competitive rate of $21 per hour. However, if you possess a valid CDL with a passenger endorsement, you are encouraged to apply and will be compensated at a higher starting rate of $25 per hour. Our operations utilize software akin to on-demand ride share platforms, but drivers operate company-owned vehicles, relieving personal vehicle wear and tear.
The shuttle driver position includes a variety of responsibilities centered around safe transport and excellent customer service. This involves greeting patrons politely, safely transporting customers to their destinations, assisting with vehicle doors, and adhering strictly to traffic laws to ensure passenger safety. The driver will also communicate effectively with management and team members via radio, perform pre-trip safety inspections, and maintain records of passenger counts and trip times. Maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle and reporting any mechanical issues is also essential.
Drivers must hold a valid Class D (Non-CDL) license in good standing and be at least 20 years old to satisfy insurance requirements. Additionally, possession of a valid DOT Medical card is mandatory, with VPA offering support for qualified applicants to obtain this certification. Professional driving experience is valued but not mandatory. All applicants will undergo background checks and driving tests, underscoring VPA's commitment to safety and professionalism.
At VPA, we pride ourselves on fostering a supportive work environment for drivers who want to contribute to community safety and reliable transport services. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to providing fair employment practices and embracing diversity within our workforce. Join us to become part of a company that values your contributions and offers stable employment with competitive pay and flexible hours in a vital community role.
