Job Description
VPA is a reputable transportation service provider operating in the Worcester area, specializing in shuttle services with a commitment to safe and reliable transit solutions. The company is known for its steady, local shuttle routes that enhance community connectivity and provide convenient options for commuters and patrons alike. VPA operates walk-on 14-passenger vehicles that do not require a commercial driver's license (CDL), making it accessible for a broad range of applicants. However, the company offers increased pay for drivers who hold a CDL and encourages qualified individuals to apply. VPA supports its employees by offering weekly payroll options, including check, direct deposit, and pay card, ensuring timely compensation for work performed.
The current openings at VPA include full-time and part-time shuttle driver positions designed to operate year-round with specific shifts scheduled primarily in the early morning and late afternoon. Drivers have the opportunity to work 2, 3, or 5 shifts per week, with the flexibility to accommodate different schedules. Shifts typically run from 6 AM to 9 AM and/or 2 PM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility in actual shift times. Additional hours may also be available, providing further employment options for interested candidates.
As a Shuttle Driver at VPA, your role will be critical in ensuring the safe and efficient transport of customers to their destinations. The job involves greeting patrons politely, assisting them as needed, operating shuttle vehicles safely in compliance with all traffic laws and company procedures, and maintaining clear communication with management and fellow employees. Drivers will conduct pre-trip inspections to meet federal and company safety standards, record passenger counts and trip times, and manage essential paperwork related to daily operations. Additional responsibilities include helping with the setup and breakdown of equipment such as signs and cones, maintaining shuttle cleanliness, and promptly reporting any mechanical issues.
The position demands a valid class D (Non-CDL) license in good standing, with drivers required to be at least 20 years old due to insurance regulations. Prospective drivers must also possess a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card, which VPA is willing to help applicants obtain if necessary through a covered DOT physical. While professional driving experience is advantageous, it is not mandatory. All applicants are subject to background checks and driving tests as part of the hiring process. VPA is dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities and fostering a supportive work environment for all employees.
