The company is renowned for not only delivering quality food products but also providing valuable consulting services through their team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts. This team assists customers in improving their operations, developing innovative menus, selecting the right products, and implementing operational strategies designed to boost success and efficiency. The company fosters a workplace culture that values safety, inclusiveness, and respect, offering competitive pay and comprehensive benefits such as Day 1 Health & Wellness Benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K with employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. Employees also appreciate the opportunities for growth and advancement within the organization, especially as they perform essential work that supports America’s food distribution system.

The Shuttle Driver position at Performance Foodservice plays a critical role in the logistics and operational success of the company. The Shuttle Driver is responsible for transporting empty trailers to warehouse locations operated by the company and then delivering full trailers loaded with various products to designated domicile or shuttle yard locations. This role demands adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies to ensure a safe and timely delivery process. The position typically covers intrastate and interstate driving using equipment such as tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and straight trucks. Beyond driving duties, the Shuttle Driver must interact professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers, answer inquiries accurately, and complete any assigned tasks that serve the company’s interests.

Responsibilities include performing all mandatory safety checks, such as pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and trailer, identifying and reporting safety and repair issues promptly, ensuring the freight is properly loaded and secured, and maintaining all required route paperwork. Shuttle Drivers follow predetermined routes and schedules, executing hook and unhook procedures safely, parking equipment as directed, securing all equipment and freight, and managing any damaged goods or customer returns by ensuring proper paperwork is completed upon return to the base facility. The role also involves unloading equipment, materials, and removing trash from trailers as needed, while maintaining a clean and organized working environment in and around the tractor, loading dock, and trailers. Drivers must keep an accurate daily log of their hours of service consistent with federal, state, and company requirements. This career offers a Third Shift schedule, Sunday to Thursday evenings, with dispatch duties typically from 6 pm to 8 pm and pays between $204 and $255 per night. It provides an opportunity for individuals who are dependable, safety-conscious, professional, and eager to contribute to the efficient flow of food distribution within a leading national company.
