This employment opportunity at Sheraton San Diego Resort is specifically for the role of a Shorelight Host, a key position within their food and beverage service team. The Shorelight Host serves as the first point of contact for all guests entering the resort's dining spaces. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Minimum 6 months experience in hotels, banquets, or events
  • Ability to speak, understand, and communicate the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Must have excellent communication, follow-up, and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work efficiently with limited supervision
  • Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task efficiently
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, squat, and lift up to 50lbs regularly
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
  • Must be a clear thinker, remain calm, and resolve problems using good judgment
  • Follow directions thoroughly and understand guests’ service needs
  • Work cohesively as part of a team
  • Knowledge of and ensure compliance with all state food safety guidelines

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Welcome and seat guests upon arrival to food and beverage restaurants and outlets
  • Seat guests according to rotation and service levels
  • Present menus and share knowledge of food and beverage offerings
  • Complete opening duties as assigned, including checking quality and quantity of all food and beverage stock and supplies using checklist
  • Set up the station according to service standards
  • Set up all condiments, supplies, food and beverages according to standards
  • Ensure a sufficient supply of all supplies and tools
  • Ensure cleanliness, condition of host stand, and of assigned station and service areas
  • Set up side stations with supplies and equipment
  • Assist guests with to go orders
  • Assist guests with retail and package purchases
  • Stock service stations
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas
  • Clean and wipe down food and beverage areas immediately in workstation and after guest departs
  • Complete closing duties and reports as assigned and leave duty after reporting to supervisor or manager on duty
  • Must be TIPS and Food Safety certified as required
  • Follow 4 Keys service standards, standard operation procedures, and safety standards
  • Follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve all standards of operations
  • Follow safety and security procedures
  • Work cohesively with co-workers and all departments as part of a team
  • Adhere to attendance and reliability standards
  • Follow all additional duties as assigned by management
