Job Requirements

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Ability to stand or walk for entire scheduled shifts
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs and occasionally lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to work with fresh, dried, or processed products without allergic issues
  • Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures
  • Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way
  • Ability to cooperate with others
  • Ability to work assigned schedules and comply with attendance policies

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret and understand English
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Ability to maintain friendly interaction with customers
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to follow company policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of cash register operation is beneficial but not required
  • Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple payment forms
  • Understanding of product handling and safety is advantageous

Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
  • Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment according to Department of Sanitation and QA standards
  • Keep floor clear of debris and spills
  • Perform duties in accordance with local, state and federal regulations related to Front-End operations
  • Dress and groom according to Company policy including uniform and name badge requirements
  • Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service
  • Operate cash register and follow cash handling procedures
  • Accurately scan and price products
  • Handle merchandise lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Check prices and know store item locations
  • Collect proper payment and provide change
  • Process all forms of payments per company guidelines
  • Promote charitable promotions
  • Bag customer orders safely
  • Handle damaged and return-to-stock products properly
  • Recognize various product types
  • Stand at register for entire shift
  • Follow Company shrink guidelines
  • Use safety procedures for chemical handling
  • Maintain equipment and report issues
  • Complete training programs
  • Uphold ShopRite Service Priorities such as Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency
  • Maintain punctual attendance
  • Work overtime as assigned
  • Collaborate with colleagues
  • Must be 18 or older to operate certain machinery
  • Perform other assigned duties
