The Bakery Associate role at ShopRite plays an integral part in delivering a great customer experience by assisting the Bakery Manager in the daily operations of the Bakery department. This position involves a wide range of responsibilities including baking, mixing dough, icing, packaging, filling, and decorating pastry and bread items, all with a commitment to quality and food safety. Maintaining a neat, clean, and visually appealing department is crucial as it directly impacts the customers' perception and satisfaction. The role demands consistent adherence to company policies, food safety regulations, and quality assurance standards while promoting a friendly and helpful interaction with customers. Job Requirements

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English
  • Ability to assist the Bakery Manager
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures
  • Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences
  • Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties
  • Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies
  • Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-los, power jacks, and slicing machines

Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
  • Maintain department sanitation and QA standards
  • Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment
  • Keep floor clear of debris and spills
  • Greet all customers and provide them with prompt, courteous service and assistance
  • Maintain and properly use all department equipment as required
  • Pack out product into display cases
  • Rotate product to ensure freshness
  • Ensure accurate signage for the department
  • Prepare trays to company’s and customer’s satisfaction
  • Perform all duties in accordance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Dress and groom according to company policy
  • Perform duties in accordance with QA hand washing standards and use disposable gloves
  • Follow recipes to produce food products to specification
  • Follow and adhere to weights and measures guidelines
  • Set up, operate, and tend equipment as needed
  • Prepare special order requests
  • Track sales on production logs
  • Take complete and accurate inventory of supplies
  • Check prices and be knowledgeable about item locations
  • Promote charitable sales
  • Stand for duration of shifts
  • Receive deliveries
  • Place reclamation properly
  • Lift, pull, push and rotate merchandise
  • Unload trucks and transport merchandise
  • Assist in other departments
  • Perform duties as per company rules and regulations
  • Follow HAZCOM program
  • Follow procedures for product handling and storage
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products
  • Check refrigeration equipment regularly
  • Maintain equipment and report problems

  • Work overtime as assigned

  • Operate balers, hi-los, power jacks, slicing machines (if 18 or older)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
