The Bakery Associate position is a vital role tasked with supporting the Bakery Manager in the daily operation of the bakery department. This full-time role involves a hands-on approach to baking, mixing dough, icing, packaging, and filling designated bread and pastry items. The ideal candidate will maintain the cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal of the bakery to ensure a welcoming atmosphere for customers. Beyond preparing baked goods, the associate will interact directly with customers, providing friendly and efficient service that aligns with the company’s service priorities of safety, friendliness, presentation, and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include adhering to strict sanitation and quality assurance standards, maintaining equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring product freshness through proper rotation. The bakery associate must be physically capable of performing tasks that involve standing for long periods and lifting moderate weights regularly. Familiarity and compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations are required to maintain the bakery’s operational standards. Job Requirements
- ability to stand and walk for the duration of the scheduled shift
- ability to bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs and occasionally lift 50 lbs
- ability to work in varying temperatures
- ability to work with fresh, dried or processed products without allergic consequences
- ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents
- must comply with uniform and grooming standards
- must follow local, state and federal health and safety regulations
- must adhere to food safety practices including hand washing and glove use

Job Duties
- maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
- maintain department sanitation and quality assurance standards
- clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment
- keep floor clear of debris and spills
- greet all customers and provide prompt, courteous service
- maintain and properly use all department equipment
- pack out product into display cases
- rotate product to ensure freshness
- ensure accurate signage for the department
- prepare trays to company and customer satisfaction
- perform all duties in accordance with local, state and federal regulations
- dress and groom according to company policy
- follow recipes to produce food products
- operate equipment that mixes or processes ingredients
- prepare special order requests
- track sales movement
- take inventory of supplies weekly
- place reclamation in its proper location
- lift and transport merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs
- check prices and be knowledgeable about item locations
- promote charitable sales
- stand at work station for duration of scheduled shift
- receive deliveries
- assist other departments
- adhere to safety and chemical handling protocols
- follow procedures for receiving, storing and restocking products
- handle damaged products according to policy
- utilize department equipment
- check refrigeration performance
- complete department training programs
- maintain punctual attendance
- work overtime as assigned
