The role of Bakery Associate is integral to the daily operations of the bakery department. This position works closely with the Bakery Manager to support all aspects of bakery production and service. Key responsibilities include baking, mixing dough, icing, packaging, and filling designated pastry and bread items according to set recipes and quality standards. The Bakery Associate ensures adherence to hygiene, safety, and quality assurance policies while maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the work environment. This includes routine cleaning, sanitization of equipment and surfaces, and maintaining proper product rotation to guarantee freshness. Customer service is a prime focus, with associates expected to greet customers promptly and courteously and assist with special orders and inquiries.

Physical demands of the role include the ability to stand or walk for long periods, handle heavy merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds, and work in varying temperature conditions common in bakery settings. Employees must be able to follow safety protocols including the use of personal protective equipment and prepping food in accordance with health regulations. This position requires cooperation within a team environment and the flexibility to work assigned shifts, including overtime as necessary. The Bakery Associate also participates in inventory management by tracking sales, taking stock of supplies, and notifying management about reordering needs. Additionally, this position supports company promotions and adheres to all company policies related to grooming, uniform standards, and workplace safety.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for the duration of a scheduled shift
  • ability to bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25 lbs, and occasionally lift 50 lbs
  • ability to work in varying temperatures
  • ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without allergic consequences
  • ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents
  • ability to work all assigned schedules and comply with time and attendance policies
  • must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language

Job Duties

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment

  • pack out product into display cases
  • rotate product to ensure freshness
