Job Description
Scheels is a leading American privately owned and operated retail company specializing in sporting goods, footwear, apparel, and outdoor recreation products. Established with a commitment to providing exceptional customer service and a world-class shopping experience, Scheels has grown into a well-respected brand recognized for its employee ownership model and dedication to community involvement. The company operates large stores across multiple states, offering a dynamic and fast-paced retail environment that attracts customers passionate about sports, adventure, and quality merchandise. Scheels prides itself on fostering a positive workplace culture where associates are empowered to take ownership of their roles and contribute meaningfully to both the customer experience and the company’s ongoing success. The employee-ownership model at Scheels encourages a shared commitment to excellence and drives associates to perform with pride and professionalism.
The role of Weekend Shoe Runner at Scheels is an essential position dedicated to supporting the footwear departments including Men’s, Women’s, and Youth shoe areas during high-traffic weekend periods. As a Weekend Shoe Runner, you will be a key player in maintaining the organization and flow of shoe inventory, assisting sales associates, and ensuring an outstanding customer experience. This part-time role requires flexibility to work assigned shifts primarily on weekends, including Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a minimum commitment of two full weekends per month or every other weekend. This schedule may also include varied hours in the evenings or holidays.
In this function, you will collaborate closely with the Specialty Shop Manager and fellow team members to meet the urgent needs of the footwear sections. Responsibilities involve selecting shoes from backstock and staging them for sales associates, returning unpurchased shoes to their designated storage areas, and processing shoe returns. Maintaining an orderly and clutter-free product area to support accurate inventory tracking is critical. The role also emphasizes creating a welcoming and engaging customer atmosphere by offering timely assistance and ensuring a smooth flow of service that minimizes wait times.
Ideal candidates must demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and readiness to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, are important for prompt coordination and maintaining professionalism with customers and associates. Attention to detail and adherence to Scheels’ policies and procedures, including dress and grooming standards, reflect the company’s commitment to a professional, clean, and customer-friendly work environment.
This position suits individuals who are enthusiastic about retail, customer service, and working in a collaborative team setting within a reputable and employee-focused company. Scheels supports associate health and safety, offering a work environment that values respect, learning, and teamwork. Physical requirements include the ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as walking, standing, lifting, and bending, often requiring lifting up to 100 pounds. Overall, the Weekend Shoe Runner role offers an opportunity to become a valued part of the Scheels family, contribute directly to the retail success, and enjoy the benefits that come with employment at a company that champions associate ownership and career growth.
