The Shift Supervisor / Assistant Kitchen Manager (AKM) role at PIE.ZAA is a pivotal position essential to the smooth and successful daily operations of the restaurant. As a manager, you are entrusted with overseeing multiple aspects of the restaurant's function, from food preparation and maintaining the highest hygiene standards to supervising and training teammates and handling customer interactions. Leadership by example is a critical component of this role; you will be responsible for cultivating an efficient, clean, and positive work environment where team members are motivated and supported. This role requires a balance of hands-on involvement in food production and operational leadership, ensuring that the restaurant meets its quality, service, and financial goals.

Responsibilities include managing opening and closing duties, monitoring labor costs, training staff, maintaining inventory levels, handling customer complaints, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. You'll be expected to operate the point-of-sale system, facilitate smooth order distribution, manage the PIE station with brand-specific techniques, and uphold the company’s customer-centric ethos throughout your shift. The position demands excellent multitasking skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and morale among the team. Job Requirements

  • A food handlers license
  • proven experience in food preparation and handling
  • reliable mode of transportation

  • ability to operate a P.O.S system and handle financial transactions
  • strong attention to detail and accuracy in following recipes
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask efficiently
  • flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

  • knowledge of food safety regulations and ability to maintain a safe and hygienic work environment
  • must be able to lift at least 50 lbs or more if needed

Job Duties

  • Lead opening and closing duties
  • ensure that food waste is properly logged
  • monitor labor percentage and make cuts when necessary
  • report any misconduct or insubordination to ensure team adherence to policies
  • fill out prep list based on current pars and supervise completion
  • complete end of shift checklist and manager notes
  • train subordinates to develop their skills
  • handle customer complaints and authorize discounts appropriately
  • follow procedures in Employee Training Manual
  • keep the shop clean and tidy
  • assist in putting away food and box deliveries
  • maintain bathroom cleanliness
  • sort and properly dispose of trash and recycling
  • accurately distribute orders during service
  • control pacing of customer orders
  • ensure delivery drivers have complete customer orders
  • operate P.O.S system for orders and transactions
  • provide excellent customer service
  • upsell dipping sauces and beverages
  • maintain knowledge of rotating beverage offerings
  • stretch dough according to brand standards
  • cook orders quickly and efficiently
  • bake pizza pies in high-temperature oven per recipe book
  • keep station clean and sanitary
  • sterilize utensils and cooking equipment
  • keep oven clean
  • monitor temperatures of oven, cooler, and sauces
  • ensure proper food storage
  • supervise food and cooling-process temperatures
  • follow recipes accurately
  • use dangerous tools safely
