Job Description

Starbucks Coffee Company is a globally recognized leader in the coffeehouse industry, known for its commitment to crafting the world’s finest coffee and creating meaningful moments for its customers. Established with a mission to inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup, and one neighborhood at a time – Starbucks has grown into a beloved brand that emphasizes quality, community, and connection. The company prides itself on fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment, both for its customers and its partners (employees). Starbucks operates thousands of stores worldwide, offering a rich variety of coffee beverages, teas, and food items, alongside a vibrant store atmosphere designed to bring people together. Starbucks is also well known for its dedication to ethical sourcing practices, sustainability efforts, and investment in employee well-being through comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

As a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks, you will be an integral leader within your local coffeehouse, entrusted with delivering an exceptional customer experience that reflects Starbucks’ core values of quality, service, and community. This role involves not just overseeing daily store operations but also creating an inviting and warm environment where every customer interaction is meaningful. The Shift Supervisor leads by example, guiding the team with a blend of expertise, passion for coffee craft, and genuine care for people.

Your responsibilities will include supervising store activities during your shift, managing staff scheduling, ensuring high standards in beverage and food preparation, and maintaining store safety and cash handling protocols. You will coach and mentor partners, encouraging their development and fostering a team culture centered on collaboration and excellence. Starbucks highly values growth and development, and as a Shift Supervisor, you will have access to industry-leading benefits, ongoing training, and educational programs. This role requires flexibility, as shifts may extend to early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and nights, reflecting the dynamic nature of the retail coffee business.

The position demands strong interpersonal and leadership skills with an ability to direct and motivate a team effectively. You will be expected to maintain punctuality, adhere to store operations and standards, and engage actively with customers to ensure satisfaction. Experience in managing busy retail environments and a passion for delivering quality customer service are essential. Starbucks emphasizes a culture of inclusivity and equal opportunity employment, welcoming diverse candidates and offering reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities.

In return for your leadership and commitment, Starbucks provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance and disability benefits; paid parental leave and sick time; paid vacation accrual; holiday pay; and financial wellness programs such as a 401(k) plan with employer match and a stock purchase program. Notably, the company supports education through the Starbucks College Achievement Plan, which offers 100% tuition coverage for a first-time bachelor’s degree via Arizona State University’s online program. These offerings demonstrate Starbucks' dedication to its partners' personal and professional growth, making the Shift Supervisor role a rewarding and impactful career opportunity within a respected global brand.
