Job Description

Starbucks Coffee Company is a globally renowned coffeehouse chain recognized for its commitment to delivering exceptional coffee experiences and fostering community connections. As a leader in the specialty coffee industry, Starbucks operates thousands of stores worldwide, creating warm and welcoming environments where customers can enjoy high-quality coffee, innovative beverages, and fresh food offerings. Known for its dedication to sustainability, ethical sourcing, and partner (employee) development, Starbucks has established itself as a brand synonymous with quality, inclusivity, and social responsibility.

At Starbucks, the role of a Shift Supervisor is integral to maintaining the company’s high standards of customer service and operational excellence. This position involves leading and inspiring a team during shifts to create meaningful moments for customers while ensuring smooth store operations. The shift supervisor acts as a bridge between store management and front-line partners, cultivating a positive work environment, coaching team members, and upholding the company’s values in every interaction. The position requires a blend of leadership, interpersonal skills, and hands-on involvement in daily cafe activities.

As a shift supervisor, you will be entrusted with ensuring that every cup of coffee served meets Starbucks’ exacting quality standards while creating a welcoming space where customers feel valued and connected. The role emphasizes both craft and heart — guiding and motivating partners to excel in their roles, providing exceptional customer service, and supporting the team through effective communication and task delegation. You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership abilities through experiential learning, enhancing your capacity to manage operations, resolve issues, and drive a collaborative team culture.

Additionally, Starbucks is committed to the growth and well-being of its partners, offering a comprehensive benefits package that supports both personal and professional development. This includes access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and educational opportunities such as 100% tuition coverage through the Starbucks College Achievement Plan in partnership with Arizona State University. The company also promotes financial well-being with programs like a 401(k)-retirement plan with employer match, stock purchase programs, and emergency savings incentives.

In this dynamic role, working flexible hours — including early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays — is essential to meeting the needs of the store and community. Embracing diversity and inclusion is a core value at Starbucks, ensuring that every partner and customer is respected and welcomed regardless of background or circumstances. This role is an excellent fit for individuals passionate about coffee culture, leadership development, and creating great customer experiences in a supportive team environment.
