The role of the Shift Supervisor at Applegreen is a pivotal position within the company’s operational framework. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading a team during their shift to ensure that all aspects of customer service and operational duties are executed flawlessly. This includes making sure team members perform their duties thoroughly, adhere to brand standards, and comply with food safety regulations. The supervisor acts as a role model for customer engagement, striving to maintain positive interactions with travelers, efficiently resolving customer complaints, and upholding the highest standards of service.
In addition to leadership, the Shift Supervisor has important responsibilities related to training newly hired team members, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed, and managing the overall flow and productivity of the shift. The role involves hands-on operational tasks such as opening and closing procedures, operating point-of-sale systems, food handling, and kitchen-related duties. Supervisors must maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the products and services available at the plaza to actively cross-sell and up-sell to customers.

Job Requirements
- Able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
- frequently bend, twist, lift and carry at least 40 pounds
- requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers
- available to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation
Job Qualifications
- Cash handling and customer service experience required
- shift supervisor or leadership experience preferred
- demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner
Job Duties
- Lead the activities of team members on shift
- consistently provide friendly customer service by engaging in positive, helpful interactions with customers (travelers) and appropriately resolve customer complaints
- complete opening, daily and closing procedures/checklists in accordance with company policies/procedures
- operate point-of-sale (POS) system, accurately process & receive payment from customers, and follow all customer service and cash handling policies and procedures
- ensure proper food handling procedures are followed including wrapping, labelling, dating, stocking, storing, rotating, and checking temperature of products
- complete with a variety of kitchen-related tasks including prepping, thawing, cooking, packaging, wrapping, and cleaning
- stock, clean, and sanitize workstation and equipment
- actively cross-sell and up-sell products
- maintain a solid knowledge of products and services available in the plaza
- assist in the training of new team members
- follow required brand standards, food safety requirements, as well as all company policies and procedures
- inform plaza leadership of any observations, concerns, or problems that are witnessed or experienced
- execute a variety of other tasks as assigned
