Job Description
This job posting is for a restaurant owned and operated by an independent franchisee of McDonald's, a globally recognized fast-food chain known for its quick service, consistent quality, and iconic menu offerings. The franchisee operates under a license to use McDonald's logos and food products, functioning as a separate business entity from McDonald's USA. Therefore, all employment matters such as hiring, firing, discipline, supervision, staffing, and scheduling are managed solely by the franchisee. McDonald's USA does not have control or involvement in these areas. This job opportunity offers the chance to work within a well-established brand with the support and resources of the McDonald's system, combined with the entrepreneurial independence of the franchisee operation.
The role available is that of a Shift Manager, a key leadership position in the restaurant. Shift Managers are responsible for leading shifts on a weekly basis to ensure customers receive a fast, accurate, and friendly experience every visit. This role demands a dynamic leader who can inspire their team to uphold McDonald's famous standards of quality, service, and cleanliness. Shift Managers oversee crew members and other managers during their shifts, taking on tasks such as planning shift activities, monitoring team performance, managing safety and security protocols, and ensuring profitability. They also communicate effectively with incoming Shift Managers to maintain continuity and high performance between shifts.
Specific responsibilities of the Shift Manager role include ensuring food safety standards are met, maintaining clear internal communication, managing inventory, overseeing daily maintenance and cleanliness of the restaurant, leading crew members, managing the quality of food production, providing exceptional customer service, enforcing safety and security guidelines, scheduling staff efficiently, and conducting training sessions for employees. A successful candidate will be a positive team player who thrives in McDonald's fast-paced environment and is flexible with their work schedule. Leadership experience, especially in a restaurant, retail, or hospitality setting, is preferred. Candidates must be at least 18 years old to be considered for this position in corporate-owned and operated establishments.
This position offers competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package that highlights McDonald's commitment to employee development and well-being. Benefit offerings include paid vacation days, education opportunities through Archways to Opportunity – which provides high school completion programs, college tuition assistance, and ESL classes – as well as medical, dental, and vision coverage. Additional benefits encompass pre-tax flexible spending accounts, disability and life insurance, paid leaves of absence, service awards, and access to employee resource connections. By joining this team, individuals embark on a satisfying career path that promotes growth, skill-building, and a positive work environment with ample opportunities for advancement. This opportunity is ideal for candidates seeking a rewarding career with work-life balance, personal development, and comprehensive support.
