The role of a Shift Manager at AES Restaurant Group is pivotal in ensuring outstanding service and overall guest satisfaction by managing restaurant operations effectively during assigned shifts. Acting as a leader in the absence of the General and Assistant Managers, the Shift Manager holds full accountability for day-to-day operations, upholding AES’s high standards, and executing company policies efficiently. This leadership role involves coaching and training team members to achieve peak performance in customer service, operational efficiency, and quality assurance.

Shift Managers utilize AES's proprietary systems and tools to maintain smooth restaurant operations, including meticulous cash and inventory control. They play an active role in setting and meeting restaurant performance goals related to service, operational standards, and financial outcomes. The role requires working closely with the General and Assistant Manager to drive success in key areas such as guest satisfaction, speed of service, and safety regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Must be ServSafe certified or capable of obtaining certification
  • Ability to work in warm and cold temperatures
  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders for general maintenance
  • Ability to perform physical motions including bending, squatting, twisting, pulling, reaching

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in restaurant or retail management preferred
  • Strong leadership and team coaching skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle fast-paced work environment
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance
  • Experience managing P&L, food cost, and labor cost
  • Proficiency with operational and management systems

Job Duties

  • Ensure team members provide outstanding service to satisfy guests
  • Assist management with training and coaching team members
  • Utilize AES systems to run a great restaurant on all shifts
  • Implement restaurant controls, especially cash and inventory
  • Set and meet restaurant goals for service, operations, and financial results
  • Work with management to achieve high performance in restaurant operations, guest satisfaction, customer service, speed of service, quality control, workplace safety
  • Follow all government regulations, employment law, food safety, operations policies, and implement all accounting controls
