The role of Shift Leader / On Duty Manager (ODM) at Tiff's Treats is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to step into a leadership position while gaining hands-on experience in both operational management and direct customer service. This part-time, non-exempt, hourly role requires flexibility and dedication to managing daily store activities and leading a team in the absence of salaried managers. The position offers a competitive pay rate of $18 per hour for ODM shifts, $15 per hour for kitchen shifts, and $10 per hour plus tips for delivery driver shifts, with schedules that may include day, night, and weekend work between 7 AM and 11 PM.

As an On Duty Manager, the individual will be responsible for overseeing store operations including product preparation, sales, inventory management, and customer service. Leadership duties include training, evaluating, and motivating a team of 3 to 6 employees per shift, maintaining a positive work environment, and ensuring operational excellence. This blend of managerial and operational responsibilities provides ample opportunity for developing leadership skills while actively contributing to the team’s success. Aside from leading shifts, the ODM will also rotate through roles as a Kitchen Team Member or Delivery Driver, expanding their exposure to various aspects of the business and fostering a versatile skill set.

Kitchen Team Members focus on baking and preparing treats according to company standards, packaging orders precisely, and maintaining a clean kitchen that complies with health and safety guidelines. Delivery Drivers play a crucial role in ensuring customer satisfaction by delivering fresh treats promptly, utilizing company or personal vehicles, and providing excellent customer service. Having a clean driving record, valid driver's license, and insurance are mandatory requirements for this role.

Job Requirements

  • Must be willing to work both delivery driver and kitchen shifts as needed throughout the week
  • Must be available to work on peak business days including special occasions such as Bosses' Day and Valentine’s Day
  • Must have access to a personal vehicle for deliveries when company vehicles are occupied
  • Must be able to safely operate a vehicle and maintain a clean and organized vehicle
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and grasp up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to stand or walk constantly with limited breaks, often in extreme weather
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs while carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform occasional stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, twisting, and reaching up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks as a lone worker in the store
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions in a busy kitchen environment
  • Must be able to hear and speak clearly over the telephone
  • Must be able to perform computer work in a stationary position for extended periods

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months of leadership and/or management experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including days, nights, and weekends
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Current auto insurance with the driver listed as an authorized driver
  • Effective team leadership and training skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a busy environment
  • Basic food handling and safety knowledge

Job Duties

  • Serve as the manager on duty in the absence of salaried managers, leading the team and ensuring smooth store operations
  • Oversee, train, and evaluate the work of 3-6 employees per shift, fostering a productive and positive work environment
  • Manage daily operations, including product preparation, sales, inventory, and service to ensure a seamless guest experience
  • Execute opening and closing procedures, complete daily paperwork, and conduct inventory checks to maintain accuracy
  • Optimize delivery efficiency by routing orders to maximize speed and delivery business
  • Maintain a positive, can-do attitude, setting the tone for the team and leading by example in every role
  • Assist with front-of-house tasks, including greeting customers, taking orders, handling transactions, and ensuring order accuracy
  • Support performance management, including coaching team members and providing feedback or corrective actions as needed
  • Bake and prepare warm, delicious treats to perfection, following company recipes and quality standards
  • Accurately package orders for delivery or pickup, ensuring a delightful customer experience
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment while upholding food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Deliver warm, freshly baked treats quickly and efficiently using a Tiff’s Treats company vehicle or a personal vehicle when needed
  • Provide outstanding customer service by greeting customers with a smile and ensuring a positive delivery experience
  • Assist with various in-store duties, including order packaging and cleaning, to support overall store operations
