The Shift Leader role at Papa Johns is a pivotal position responsible for supervising shifts and operational work areas to ensure that every shift runs smoothly and meets Papa Johns' high standards for quality products and customer service. This role plays a critical part in driving the restaurant’s profitability by managing day-to-day operations according to company policies, procedures, programs, and systems. Shift Leaders are expected to enforce compliance with all federal, state, and local laws as well as ethical business practices. They oversee adherence to specific station guidelines including dough management, product preparation accuracy, proper portioning, and timely product holding.
In this leadership role, the Shift Leader commits to meeting customer needs and expectations, minimizing complaints, and responding tactfully to customer feedback. They lead by example, exemplifying the company’s core values and fostering a positive attitude and teamwork. Shift Leaders maintain shift coverage, provide immediate problem-solving feedback, and ensure high standards of product quality, customer service, cleanliness, and labor management are consistently met. Profitability goals are supported through precise use of company systems like the FOCUS System and by executing cash management and inventory controls to minimize losses. The role requires versatility and the ability to perform job duties across all restaurant positions. Candidates should be willing to work over 32 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and during emergencies, to meet the dynamic needs of the business.

Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to work long hours including nights, weekends and as emergencies arise
- Must have the ability to perform the job duties of all positions in the restaurant

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Serv-Safe or local or state food service certification preferred
- Previous restaurant shift lead experience preferred
- Successful and stable employment history
- Ability to successfully perform the job duties of all positions in the restaurant

Job Duties
- Adheres to guidelines, techniques and expectations for each station including dough management, accuracy and proper portioning
- Performs assigned work station duties such as making quality products, follows all product preparation procedures and maintains established product holding times
- Consistently contributes to achieving the company’s product goal
- Commits to meeting the needs and expectations of the restaurant’s customers, minimizes customer complaints and responds appropriately to customer needs
- Follows all policies and procedures as outlined in the team member handbook including image, attendance, safety and security
- Exemplifies and exhibits the core values, maintains a positive attitude, works well with others and is flexible and adaptable to change
- Ensures adequate shift coverage for restaurant
- Provides immediate feedback and corrects problems when identified
- Maintains product quality, customer service and performance responsibilities within acceptable standards
- Contributes to profit goals by ensuring they stay within company guidelines and target goals by accurately utilizing the FOCUS system
- Executes cash management duties
- Assists in the management of adequate inventory levels using company systems and guidelines to minimize loss
