The Shift Leader position at Sweetgreen is a key role within the restaurant’s operational framework. As a Shift Leader, you will play an integral part in supporting the day-to-day operations of the restaurant while embodying Sweetgreen’s core values. This role requires you to lead and inspire a diverse team, manage multiple responsibilities during peak hours, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. You will be expected to step into various stations as needed, assisting with everything from food preparation to customer service. Attention to detail is critical, as you will be responsible for maintaining food safety, order accuracy, and operational compliance. Effective communication and multitasking skills are essential, allowing you to coordinate team efforts seamlessly and resolve any challenges efficiently.

Job Requirements

  • Meet all minimum requirements of the Kitchen Lead role including those of Team Members
  • 1+ year of experience in a Shift Leader or Supervisor role
  • Experience in fast-paced environments such as restaurant retail or hospitality
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks while maintaining operational standards
  • Ability to speak read write and understand the primary language of the work location
  • Must be able to work at least 30 hours per week
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make confident decisions under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to foster positive team culture
  • Experience mentoring employees and delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Highly organized multitasker experienced in scheduling coaching and performance oversight
  • Food handler or ServSafe certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Step into any station at any point in the shift as needed especially during peak hours callouts or understaffed shifts
  • First-level handling of customer concerns including assisting customers with allergies to prevent cross-contamination
  • Oversee multiple tasks simultaneously including line operations tech tools and guest interactions
  • Use clear verbal communication to delegate tasks problem-solve in real time and align team and customer needs
  • Monitor food quality order accuracy safety protocols and digital reporting
  • Enforce food safety procedures prevent cross-contamination and maintain allergen awareness
  • Ensure team compliance with restaurant policies and maintain a safe environment for guests and staff
