Job Requirements
- One year of experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work and/or in the operation of light, medium and heavy equipment related to area of assignment
- Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying
- One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education
- Valid Arizona class D driver license
- May be required to work weekends and holidays
- Safety-sensitive position requires successful drug and alcohol testing prior to employment and throughout employment
- Post-offer physical assessment required
Job Qualifications
- One year of experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work and/or in the operation of light, medium and heavy equipment related to area of assignment
- Knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to area of assignment
- Knowledge of materials, tools, equipment, safety hazards and precautions common to the assigned areas of responsibility
- Knowledge of basic airport operations and local, state, and federal airport rules and regulations
- Knowledge of recordkeeping
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other relevant technology
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
- Ability to understand and follow safe working practices
- Ability to operate city vehicles
- Ability to identify, communicate, enforce, and resolve potentially unsafe conditions, both airside and landside
- Ability to learn, read, understand, enforce, and explain City and FAA policies and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and citizens
- Ability to perform general maintenance and service requirements of equipment in area of responsibility
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and work independently
- Ability to maintain the appropriate state of Arizona driver license
Job Duties
- Perform daily safety and security checks around aprons, taxilanes, perimeter fence, aircraft hangars, and other airport airside and landside areas
- Question unfamiliar people entering the Air Operations Area, report issues, and take or suggest corrective actions as needed
- Conduct inspections of runways, taxiways, lighting, signage, and surfaces to ensure safety
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning as needed
- Respond to emergencies and weather events
- monitor environmental conditions and hazardous materials, ensuring safety and compliance
- Mow the airfield grass using a mower tractor and sweep the airfield pavement using a street sweeper truck or a pick-up truck with a FOD Boss attached
- Communicate effectively with all airport stakeholders
- enforce safety and security rules and issue warning or violations
- Support operational documentation, including logs, notices, and oversight of contractors and construction activities
- Control access to facilities and oversee security procedures
