The Valet/Porter position is a vital role within a dynamic automotive service dealership focused on delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining operational efficiency. The Service Lot Attendant/Valet is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient movement of customer vehicles within the service parking area. This role involves keen attention to detail as the attendant ensures that all vehicles are securely parked, free from damage, and managed in a way that supports smooth traffic flow throughout the facility. The valet or porter also acts as the frontline in customer interaction during vehicle drop-off and pickup, contributing significantly to the customer experience.

Specific duties include inspecting vehicles for damage both prior to and following service, documenting any findings accurately on repair orders, and communicating with management and service leaders to maintain transparency and accountability. The attendant is tasked with maintaining a clean, orderly parking lot—free from debris, fluid leaks, and hazards—and utilizing protective materials such as disposable seat covers and steering wheel covers to protect clients’ vehicles. Moreover, the role requires the handling of vehicle cleaning processes, including washing and removing any stains or debris incurred during the service period to ensure vehicles are returned to clients in pristine condition.

Additional responsibilities involve assisting with disabled vehicles, retrieving customer vehicles upon request or payment completion, and providing shuttle services when necessary. Safety is of paramount concern in this position, requiring the valet/porter to adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Maintain the parking lot in a neat and organized manner free of debris and fluid leaks
  • Regularly check to ensure all vehicles in parking lot are locked and secure
  • Assist in moving disabled vehicles in or around the Service Department
  • Retrieve customer vehicles from the parking lot upon payment or direction
  • Inspect vehicles for damage and record findings on repair orders
  • Deliver keys and repair order copies to Group Leaders after parking
  • Inspect vehicles for damage during service and report immediately
  • Keep service drive traffic flowing by parking vehicles in designated areas
  • Install disposable seat covers steering wheel covers floor mats and ID tags for vehicles in service
  • Remove protective covers and tags prior to returning vehicles to customers
  • Wash all vehicles before delivery to clients promptly
  • Inspect and clean any grease stains or debris on vehicles
  • Keep waste cans emptied and haul bulky waste to dumpster
  • Shuttle clients to and from the dealership as needed
  • Report any safety or security concerns immediately to management
  • Adhere to work schedule and arrive before scheduled time
  • Comply with all safety rules and use personal protection equipment
  • Maintain established dress code at all times
  • Safeguard customer and dealer information per policy
  • Exemplify company culture and hold peers accountable
  • Accomplish all assigned tasks appropriately
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
