Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 0-1 years of experience in institutional cleaning preferred
  • physical ability to perform cleaning duties including lifting and moving furniture
  • ability to follow cleaning protocols and safety standards
  • good interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to work rotating holiday and weekend shifts
  • reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

  • good communication skills to interact with patients and hospital personnel effectively
  • physical ability to perform demanding cleaning tasks including lifting and moving furniture

  • reliability and flexibility with work schedule

Job Duties

  • Clean assigned areas using hospital-approved germicidal detergents, supplies, and equipment
  • sweep, dust, mop, buff, scrub, and strip floors
  • wash walls, light fixtures, sills, banisters, baseboards, doors, and more in rooms, offices, and elevators
  • polish brass and stainless steel as needed
  • report any malfunctions in mechanical equipment and any damage to walls, doors, or furniture to your supervisor
  • interact effectively with patients, visitors, and hospital personnel demonstrating courtesy, compassion, sensitivity, and respect
  • move furniture and push or pull loaded or empty carts
  • collect and dispose of trash and clean and disinfect trash receptacles
  • damp dust furniture, apply stain-type polish, hand buff furniture, and arrange furniture as needed
  • clean and make up unoccupied beds as necessary
  • clean and disinfect bathrooms including sinks, bathtubs, showers, toilets, bathroom tiles, and polished chrome fixtures
  • replace supplies such as soap, towels, and toilet tissue
  • clean and disinfect isolation rooms including ceilings, lights, walls, floors, furniture, and entire bathrooms
  • collect isolation linen and/or trash
  • maintain equipment cleanliness including janitorial carts and closets
  • work on varying shift schedules as needed
