We are currently seeking a full-time Delivery/Route Technician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will take on a variety of responsibilities centered around servicing and maintaining portable sanitation equipment, customer interaction, and ensuring efficient delivery routes throughout the Dallas area.
This position demands punctuality, reliability, and the ability to manage time effectively to meet tight schedules and deadlines. The Delivery/Route Technician acts as the face of Texas Johns in the field, interacting directly with customers and representatives, providing excellent service, and troubleshooting issues proactively and professionally. The role offers a unique blend of physical labor, mechanical aptitude, and communication skills, making it ideal for individuals who enjoy a hands-on job with customer engagement.
Key responsibilities include performing daily truck inspections, loading and unloading equipment without forklift assistance, operating medium-duty trucks and trailers safely, and conducting routine maintenance on rental equipment. The technician must also be comfortable using technology such as iPads for navigation and route management to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
Working hours are primarily Monday through Friday with variable shifts, with weekend work required depending on business needs, highlighting the need for flexibility and a strong work ethic. Job Requirements
- Read and understand route sheet directions, road maps, map books and other written or spoken directions
- Navigation throughout the Dallas area via iPad map and route software a must
- Safely drive and operate a 3/4 ton and medium duty truck
- Ability to backup trailers in tow - this is very important and a must
- Ability to tow a trailer up to 20 feet long, operate valves and pressure washer
- Must hold class C driver’s license no less than 2 years with clean driving record
- Must be available to work weekends as dictated by business needs
- Must work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while driving, servicing, loading and unloading
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and motor vehicle report
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid class C driver’s license with clean driving record for at least 2 years
- Experience operating medium duty trucks and towing trailers
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Mechanical aptitude for performing minor repairs
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
Job Duties
- Effective communication with the customer and our operations staff
- Ability to provide excellent service in the field
- Ability to think on the spot and help resolve any issues that may arise in a positive, friendly, and professional manner
- Ability to load and unload trucks without a forklift, lifting 50 lbs
- Responsible for daily truck inspections and reporting needed repairs/service for maintenance of truck and all other equipment in a clean and professional manner
- Complete daily reports and delivery paperwork as required
- Ability to use good judgment and think independently
