Job Description
AutoNation is one of the largest automotive retailers in the United States, known for delivering innovative products, exceptional services, and comprehensive solutions to empower customers to make the best decisions for their automotive needs. With a vast network of dealerships nationwide, AutoNation offers a wide selection of new and used vehicles, customer financing, parts, and expert maintenance and repair services. Their commitment extends beyond business to making a positive impact through their DRV PNK mission, having raised over $40 million for cancer research and treatment, collaborating with cancer charities across the nation. This dedication highlights AutoNation's core values of community service, innovation, and inclusivity. AutoNation also fosters a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment, embracing candidates from all backgrounds who share a passion for driving positive change. The company prides itself on teamwork, innovation, and a culture of belonging, making it a rewarding place to build a career in the automotive industry.
The Service Porter role at AutoNation is essential to the smooth operation of vehicle maintenance and service departments. This position involves various duties related to vehicle care, customer service, and logistical support. Service Porters assist with service write-ups and tagging of customer cars and trucks, ensuring each vehicle is correctly identified and processed. They remove protective coverings and ID tags before returning completed vehicles to customers, inspect vehicles for stains, debris, or damage before delivery, and immediately report any issues found. Porters are also responsible for transporting customers and dealership personnel as needed, performing timely vehicle deliveries, and keeping vehicles clean inside and out. Maintaining a neat and orderly vehicle lot by moving units according to dealership standards is another critical responsibility, along with returning vehicle keys to the appropriate service consultant and handling vehicle pickup and storage logistics. Additional tasks include picking up parts, testing batteries, and assisting with shop clean-up and deliveries.
This role demands safety-conscious operation of machinery and vehicles, including the ability to drive manual transmission cars. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are vital to ensure smooth coordination within the dealership team and positive interactions with customers. Porters are often the first and last point of contact for customers' vehicles, making attention to detail and customer service a priority. The hourly wage ranges from $14.50 to $21.50, reflecting the responsibilities and skills required. AutoNation offers a competitive compensation package along with 401k matching, comprehensive insurance plans, and maternity benefits. Employees also enjoy various purchase and discount programs for vehicles, parts, and accessories, plus access to exclusive deals through the YouDecide platform. Joining AutoNation means becoming part of a forward-thinking company that blends automotive excellence with a mission to support communities and foster diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
