The role of Service Attendant/Busser is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our cafe and delivering an outstanding guest experience. Reporting directly to the Cafe Manager, the Service Attendant/Busser is responsible for preparing and serving various food items according to the cafe's standards. This role involves tasks such as pulling and wrapping bread, preparing soups, salads, desserts, beverages, wraps, and pickles, as well as stocking the front of house (FOH) to maintain a well-organized and inviting environment for patrons. The Service Attendant/Busser also prepares trays, delivers food to guests, and maintains cleanliness and orderliness in the dining room and restrooms.

In addition to these primary duties, the position supports and promotes company initiatives, ensuring that each guest receives friendly and prompt service. The Service Attendant/Busser must be approachable, able to smile and respond effectively to guest requests while knowing when to escalate matters to the manager. Secondary functions include assisting in roles such as Expo, Cashier, Dishwasher, and Line Cook, providing flexibility and enhancing teamwork within the cafe. Highlighted duties also cover maintaining FOH displays and condiment stations abundantly stocked, checking and cleaning bathrooms regularly, bussing tables efficiently, preparing food to specification and order requests, and handling cashiering functions with accuracy and integrity to maintain financial accountability.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent or in pursuit of same
  • must be able to complete CBC driver training, pass a MVR according to CBC standards and maintain a valid driver's license with insurance (now or when eligible to drive for CBC)
  • state Foodhandler card/ServSafe certification as applicable
  • preferably a minimum of 3 months' work experience in a guest service capacity
  • restaurant or retail environment preferred
  • possess strong guest service and communication skills
  • organized and detail oriented
  • computer literate
  • proficient in use of POS - Point of Sale systems
  • must be able to read, write and speak English
  • must be proficient in basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
