The current opening at The Art Institute of Chicago is for the position of Server/Runner/Busser. This hourly role offers a competitive pay rate of $15.80 per hour. The position involves contributing to the daily food and beverage operations in various locations within the museum, including The Café, Modern Bar located in the Modern Wing, and The Member Bar at Terzo Piano. Additionally, there are opportunities to provide service during world-class events hosted at the museum.
As a Server/Runner/Busser with Levy, you will be responsible for delivering an elevated hospitality experience to guests, ensuring quality service and accuracy throughout the dining process. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience in food service or hospitality
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Strong communication skills
- Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Ability to follow state and federal alcohol service laws
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Basic math skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a food service or hospitality role preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties
- Providing an elevated hospitality experience for guests ensuring quality and accuracy
- Warmly greets guests
- enters orders accurately into POS device following guidelines for denoting allergens noting special requests and applying necessary discounts
- Demonstrates complete understanding of menu items and ingredients accommodates reasonable requests and notes preferences
- Delivers ordered items promptly and professionally maintains safe food handling and sanitation standards
- Preparing drinks using standard ingredient recipes
- Adheres to state federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
- Ensure all display foods are merchandised attractively by standards
- Serves food neatly and attractively per standard
- Quickly clears dirty table settings and prepares table for resetting
- Exhibits exceptional communication skills and demonstrates the ability to get along well with others
- Remains flexible and patient when communicating with guests and staff
- Promptly addresses complaints or issues relays relevant information or complaints directly to the supervisor
- Promotes a clean safe and neat environment
- Ensures the dining room is properly set up before and after the service period
- Works with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions
- Follows the company’s policies for attendance time clock usage uniform and meal and rest breaks
- Performs all assigned side work including stocking polishing cleaning stations and floors and trash disposal
- Perform other duties as assigned such as cleaning unexpected spills handling special guest requests and greeting and seating guests
