Job Description
Ecumen is a well-established leader in the senior living industry, with a history that spans over 160 years of compassionate care and advocacy for older adults. Based in Minnesota, Ecumen stands as the state's eighth largest senior living provider, renowned for offering a variety of housing options, healthcare services, and innovative programs tailored to the needs of aging populations. The organization prides itself on advancing its mission through high standards of service, fostering a welcoming environment where employees and residents alike feel a sense of belonging and community.
For those seeking a rewarding part-time role, Ecumen offers the opportunity to join its dedicated team as a Dining Assistant. This position operates within the vital context of supporting senior residents in their daily dining experiences, ensuring that each individual receives thoughtful, courteous, and attentive service. The role involves assisting with meal preparation, serving food according to specific diet orders, and maintaining clean and organized work areas to comply with all established policies and regulatory standards.
This position carries a targeted pay range of $16 to $19.50 per hour, recognizing that compensation varies based on prior experience, qualifications, and applicable certifications or licenses. Ecumen also offers a diverse benefits package that can include paid time off for sick and safe days, access to an Employee Assistance Program, and additional well-being resources, all of which reflect the company’s commitment to employee health and satisfaction.
The Dining Assistant plays a critical role in enriching the lives of residents by helping serve balanced meals in a manner that respects individual dietary needs and preferences. Attention to detail is essential, as all food must be served at proper temperatures and portion sizes in adherence with diet orders. Effective communication skills are paramount in order to respond to resident requests, special needs, and any concerns they may express, with a clear process in place to escalate issues to supervisory staff promptly.
Teamwork and respect toward community members and facility resources are key aspects of this role. The Dining Assistant collaborates closely with peers and supervisors in a dynamic environment, contributing to the smooth operation of dining services and occasionally assisting with special functions. The role also requires adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance, including policies related to vulnerable adults, privacy, universal precautions, and workplace safety standards.
Ecumen’s welcoming, mission-driven culture makes this part-time position an excellent fit for individuals aged 16 and up who possess a strong desire to work in senior care settings. The role demands integrity, reliability, and empathy, ensuring that all residents enjoy a positive dining experience while maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the environment. If you are looking to make a meaningful impact within a supportive team, this Dining Assistant role offers both a chance to contribute to quality care and grow professionally in a reputable company dedicated to the well-being of older adults.
