The role of Restaurant Server under general direction from the Restaurant Services Supervisor is critical in maintaining an efficient and profitable restaurant operation. The Server is responsible for accurately obtaining guest orders, delivering food, drinks, and merchandise, and serving guests with a combination of professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail. This role requires excellent knowledge of the menu, food preparation standards, and proper service techniques as well as proficiency with the Point of Sale (POS) system for processing transactions seamlessly. The Server is expected to handle cash and tips responsibly following casino-wide policies to safeguard all financial exchanges. Responsibilities extend to maintaining cleanliness and organization within the dining area and workstations, adhering strictly to ServSafe and other regulatory standards to ensure food safety and sanitation. This includes preparing and displaying food and merchandise attractively and safely, restocking supplies based on business volume, and ensuring all food display cases and refrigerators meet cleanliness and stocking criteria throughout shifts.
In addition to direct customer service, the Server plays an instrumental role in enhancing the guest experience by responding knowledgeably to inquiries about the menu, beverage options—including wine and spirits—and casino-related information. Excellent communication skills and the ability to create a friendly, engaging atmosphere contribute significantly to customer satisfaction and repeat business. This service-oriented position demands the ability to multi-task efficiently—managing orders, payments, cleanliness, and guest interaction simultaneously while adhering to health and safety guidelines. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required unless waived
- Six months of customer service experience required
- Food and Beverage experience preferred
- Cash handling experience preferred
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen
- Ability to pass background investigation
- Ability to obtain and maintain gaming license
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work in noisy, smoky, and variable temperature environments.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED unless waived by Human Resources
- Six months of customer service experience
- Food and Beverage experience preferred
- Cash handling experience preferred
- Knowledge of restaurant operations and food service principles
- Knowledge of basic math and arithmetic
- Knowledge of menu items including entrees, sides, beverages, wines, and desserts
- Knowledge of proper hand and tray service
- Skill in providing excellent customer service
- Skill in utilizing computer equipment and POS systems
- Ability to create a friendly atmosphere and demonstrate excellent customer service
- Ability to operate a cash register
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to interact and maintain good relationships with diverse individuals
- Ability to work independently and meet time lines
- Ability to interpret written and oral instructions effectively.
Job Duties
- Prepare food and beverage items according to prep sheets and standard recipes
- Prepare and display food and merchandise following ServSafe and regulatory standards
- Maintain inventory, supplies, and prepare food based on business volumes using par levels
- Utilize Point of Sale (POS) system fully
- Adhere to cash handling practices according to Casino-wide policies
- Count cash, separate charge slips, input cash tips into tip pouches immediately
- Ensure dining area tables are cleaned and maintained during shifts
- Clean shelves, counters, windows, and maintain clean and sanitary work areas and equipment
- Set up and maintain stations for food preparation
- Keep display cases and refrigerators clean and stocked
- Maintain organized work areas for guest interaction and safety
- Answer guest questions regarding food venues, beverage service, and Casino related information
- Properly bag or package purchases for guests
- Greet customers and take food and drink orders following service standards
- Serve food orders promptly and professionally
- Stay attentive to customers during dining experience
- Memorize menu items, recipes, and specials
- Maintain cleanliness in restaurant, wait stations, and kitchen service areas
- Complete restocking and cleaning by performing opening and closing side work
- Control guest checks according to check-use procedures
- Receive accurate guest payments and safeguard restaurant assets
- Attend pre-meal and departmental meetings to gain product and service knowledge
- Respond to customer inquiries promptly and knowledgeably
- Report maintenance or housekeeping issues to management
