The role of Server/Bartender at Wicked Weed Funkatorium is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are enthusiastic about craft beer and passionate about delivering superb customer service. This part-time, non-exempt position is integral to the day-to-day operations of the Funkatorium, supporting its commitment to creating exhilarating experiences for every visitor. Reporting to the General Manager or Manager on Duty, the Server/Bartender contributes by ensuring guests receive knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive service from the moment they arrive until they leave. The ideal candidate is someone who possesses a deep understanding of the craft beer industry along with wines and cocktails, ensuring they can confidently guide guests through the menu selections and enhance their overall experience.

In this role, the Server/Bartender will attend pre-shift meetings to stay updated on promotions, events, and operational changes. The position demands versatility, as the candidate will serve guests in all areas, including walk-up bars, counters, and tables. Knowledge of the Funkatorium’s extensive beer, wine, and cocktail lists, as well as the menu with dietary considerations, is crucial. This role also involves responsible alcohol service, including cutting off guests when necessary, and working closely with management to address special requests or VIP guests.

The position requires someone who is proactive, efficient in multitasking, and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. They must exhibit excellent communication skills, dependability, and a positive attitude to contribute effectively to the team-oriented culture. Physical stamina is also necessary since the job involves standing for extended periods, lifting kegs, and performing light cleaning tasks. Job Qualifications

  • Minimum one year bartending experience in a high-volume restaurant
  • liquor bartending experience required
  • craft cocktail experience preferred
  • Cicerone level one certification required within 30 days of employment
  • full service and walk-up dining experience
  • prior money-handling experience
  • POS system experience such as Toast or DCRS
  • SERV Safe certification is a plus
  • food, craft beer, and wine knowledge
  • Cicerone and/or Sommelier certifications are a plus
  • TIPS certification required with in-house training available

Job Duties

  • Attend pre-shift meetings
  • serve guests in all spaces including walk-up bar service, counter service, and table service
  • maintain thorough understanding of beer, wine, and cocktail list
  • know menu offerings and preparation techniques including dietary restriction information
  • be knowledgeable regarding operating hours, brewery tours, and promotions/events
  • take food orders and expedite food
  • follow up with guests using minute/two bite check-back rule
  • advise GM or MOD of VIPs or special requests
  • serve alcohol responsibly adhering to guidelines
  • cut off individuals when necessary and communicate to management
  • accurately tender money and give change
  • accurately describe beers on tap and in bottles, compare beers and styles, know proper glassware and price points
  • accurately describe by-the-glass wine offerings
  • understand cocktail crafting and liquor offerings
  • complete opening setup, maintain running side work, and closing duties
  • keep bar clean and ready including stocking and communicating 86'd items
  • change kegs as needed including lifting
  • prepare bar needs such as syrups, juices, and fruit garnishes
  • mix and serve alcoholic beverages up to company standards
  • stock service area and bus tables
  • maintain flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • perform additional duties as assigned
