The Server/Bartender position at Sonesta International Hotels is integral to executing the company’s mission of "Wowing" guests through Amazing Moments. This role is a frontline hospitality position focused on providing exceptional service by welcoming guests warmly, taking orders promptly, and preparing food and beverage items with care and high attention to quality standards. The Server/Bartender must maintain an organized and clean work environment, adhering to sanitation guidelines and managing bar supplies efficiently. This job requires working evening shifts primarily from 2 PM to 9 PM or 4 PM to 11 PM on Sunday through Wednesday, with the requirement to work at least three shifts per week and potential to work additional shifts. The role demands a passion for hospitality, a knack for engaging with guests, and the endurance to work in a fast-paced setting.

This position is physically demanding, requiring the individual to work indoors in varying temperature conditions such as kitchens and freezers. Flexibility in scheduling is essential since shifts may vary, including weekends and holidays, with occasional ten to twelve-hour shifts. The Server/Bartender must have prior experience in a similar position, preferably in a high-volume bar setting, and competency with computerized cash registers is desired. Educational preferences include a high school diploma or GED. Key responsibilities consist of greeting guests, taking and delivering orders accurately, demonstrating thorough knowledge of food and beverage menus, preparing the bar for service, managing inventory, securing alcohol responsibly, adhering strictly to cash handling procedures, and maintaining cleanliness of the bar area. The role involves critical tasks like closing duties and report completion that ensure smooth operational continuity.

Successful candidates demonstrate excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work swiftly without compromising quality. Independence and accountability are important as individuals must be able to maintain excellent performance with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills are required to be attentive, friendly, and courteous to guests and team members alike. Physical stamina is necessary for standing and moving quickly during entire shifts. Teamwork and cooperation with coworkers form a vital part of the work environment. Certifications such as Food Handlers and TIPS are mandatory, along with fluency in English in reading, writing, and speaking. The position offers a base pay of $21.30 per hour plus tips, aligned with minimum wage standards.

Job Requirements

  • experience as a server bartender required preferably in a high volume bar

  • must have open availability to work evening shifts 2PM-9PM or 4PM-11PM on Sunday Monday Tuesday and Wednesday

Job Duties

  • greet welcome and interact with guests in a warm and friendly manner
  • take orders prepare drinks according to recipes and serve all food and beverage requests in the bar
  • demonstrate complete knowledge of the food and beverage menu
  • prepare the bar for service by ensuring supplies garnishes utensils are properly set up in accordance with quality standards
  • inventory unused liquor and beverages
  • ensure all liquor is properly secured before during and at close of shift
  • adhere to cash handling and credit card policies and procedures
  • ensure all drink orders from servers are accurately rung into the P.O.S. system
  • clean and reset bartop and tables immediately after guests depart
  • complete closing duties and reports as assigned
  • secure all liquors beers wines coolers cabinets and storage areas
  • adhere to established safety and sanitation guidelines
  • adhere to uniform and grooming standards
  • perform other duties or projects as requested by management
