The Server role at Rancho San Joaquin, part of American Golf, plays a crucial part in ensuring members and guests enjoy an exceptional dining experience. The ideal Server is attentive, welcoming, and operates effectively in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency and dedication to guest satisfaction. The role involves greeting and seating guests, accurately taking food and beverage orders, recommending menu items, and effectively communicating dietary needs such as allergies to kitchen staff. Servers are expected to ensure orders are promptly filled with high-quality standards while providing attentive ongoing service like refilling drinks and responding promptly to any service issues. This role is vital in maintaining the reputation of American Golf’s dining services by delivering personalized, friendly, and professional interactions that enhance the overall experience for members and guests. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to a premier golf and dining atmosphere that values teamwork, professionalism, and a passion for hospitality.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred
  • able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • must have legal age and certification to serve alcohol if applicable
  • basic math and cash handling skills
  • effective communication skills
  • previous food service experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a fast-paced, food service environment preferred
  • must be of legal age to sell and serve alcoholic beverages, applicable state card or certificate must be provided if required by state law
  • able to work a flexible schedule, perform multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently
  • cash handling experience
  • knowledge of sales techniques
  • knowledge of liquor and smoking laws
  • ability to determine signs of intoxication
  • knowledge of safety policies and procedures
  • effective communication skills (written and oral), strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • basic math skills and ability to operate calculator, cash register and/or point of sale system

Job Duties

  • Greet and seat members and guests
  • take food and beverage orders and accurately input into the point-of-sale system
  • recommend menu items
  • communicate food allergies or special nutrition needs to kitchen staff
  • ensure orders are filled quickly, accurately, and meet quality standards
  • provide attentive service by refilling drinks as needed and checking on the needs of the members and guests while dining
  • promptly address service issues and refer to management when necessary
