The Server Upgrade and Maintenance Support Specialist role at Bayer is a unique opportunity to be part of the Bayer Customer Response Squad, playing a pivotal role in maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting server infrastructure critical to multiple Bayer product suites. The primary responsibilities include executing software upgrades on servers, managing data migration projects, performing routine server maintenance, and serving as a high-level technical troubleshooting resource. The role requires collaboration with various internal teams such as engineering, R&D, cybersecurity, sales, and operational excellence to enhance product performance and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Ideal candidates will be deeply familiar with Microsoft and Linux-based platforms, including Red Hat, Alma Linux, and Ubuntu, as well as healthcare interoperability standards such as DICOM, HL7, and web services. This position offers a competitive salary range from $96,800 to $145,200 annually, potentially supplemented by bonus or incentive compensation, reflecting the importance of the technical skills and domain expertise expected. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 10 years of relevant technical support experience OR associate’s degree with 5 years experience OR bachelor’s degree with 2 years experience
  • experience supporting enterprise healthcare IT systems
  • knowledge of Microsoft and Linux-based platforms
  • familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards
  • understanding of radiology clinical workflows
  • knowledge of privacy laws and cybersecurity
  • excellent communication skills
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office and support tools
  • ability to travel domestically (5-10%) and internationally with limitations
  • willingness to perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED with 10 years of applicable technical support experience
  • associate’s degree in engineering, electronics, IT, computer science or related field with 5 years of experience
  • bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics, IT, computer science or related field with 2 years of experience
  • demonstrated technical experience supporting enterprise healthcare IT systems including Microsoft and Linux platforms
  • knowledge of PACS/RIS environments and cloud or infrastructure solutions
  • working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards including DICOM, HL7 and web services
  • strong understanding of radiology clinical workflows including image acquisition, networking, storage and diagnostic image consumption
  • knowledge of privacy laws, cybersecurity, networking and troubleshooting abilities
  • familiarity with radiology stakeholders operational needs
  • functional understanding of core radiology systems such as RIS/HIS, PACS, worklists and integration engines
  • effective communication with customers of varying technical and clinical expertise
  • strong verbal and written communication skills including technical documentation
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office and productivity tools

Job Duties

  • Accurately record and detail all daily activities ensuring timely submission of customer complaints
  • review and update procedures focusing on driving customer success
  • perform and troubleshoot remote software upgrades, assist with OS upgrades and server migrations, verify and update server configurations, conduct pre- and post-upgrade checks
  • support routine maintenance tasks validating software and system functionality and resource availability
  • apply DICOM and HL7 preventative maintenance procedures
  • provide Level 3 troubleshooting and assist with customer OVF file building and importing
  • manage configuration of customer settings, test and validate new customer interfaces
  • create and test automation scripts for troubleshooting, upgrades, and configurations
  • sustain platform quality through continuous testing and data integrity focus
  • document and communicate new procedures meeting industry, regulatory, and customer standards
  • build strong interdepartmental relationships across engineering, R&D, cybersecurity, product development, sales, and operational excellence
  • coach and mentor new technical team members
  • contribute to creating a motivational and results-oriented team environment fostering teamwork and collaboration
