The restaurant seamlessly blends elevated cooking techniques and flavors from across Asia, creating an extensive cross-cultural New Asian menu that spans many culinary traditions and cultural influences. This variety allows guests to customize their dining experience based on their preferences, whether they seek adventurous flavors or familiar favorites. Beyond the food, Sunda New Asian also boasts an impressive selection of specialty cocktails, signature sakes, and popular wines designed to complement and enhance the cuisine, making it a destination for both culinary enthusiasts and casual diners alike.
Located at 110 W. Illinois Ave in Chicago, Sunda New Asian provides a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere where guests are invited to enjoy not only delicious meals but also the vibrant culture and artistry behind each dish. The restaurant’s commitment to excellence and innovation in Southeast Asian dining has earned it accolades and a loyal following. Sunda New Asian is an Equal Opportunity Employer dedicated to creating an inclusive workplace for all employees. This opportunity is offered as an hourly position starting at $12.62 plus tips, making it a competitive choice for those seeking employment in the vibrant hospitality industry of Chicago.
The role of Server at Sunda New Asian is integral to delivering the essence of hospitality and gracious service the restaurant is known for. Servers are the face of the restaurant, responsible for engaging with guests to ensure an elevated and memorable dining experience. This role demands more than just taking and delivering orders; it requires a combination of excellent interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As a Server, you will be expected to perform your duties in a pleasant, conscientious, fun, energetic, and professional manner to ensure complete guest satisfaction at every interaction.
Key responsibilities include delivering precise steps of service as outlined in the restaurant’s handbook. This includes familiarizing guests with the menu highlights, suggesting pairings and specials, and communicating daily additions to the menu. Servers coordinate closely with Server Assistants, Food Runners, and Back Waiters to ensure smooth table maintenance, which includes clearing, resetting tables, and handling plate changes efficiently. Additionally, Servers monitor guest satisfaction closely, checking in after each course to ensure every meal meets guest expectations.
An important aspect of the role is maintaining responsible alcohol service. Servers must verify IDs to ensure alcoholic beverages are only served to guests over 21 years of age and monitor consumption to prevent over-intoxication, upholding the restaurant’s standards and legal obligations. Communication is vital in this position; Servers relay guest needs and feedback promptly to the kitchen and management and discreetly inform managers of any issues or customer complaints to ensure swift resolution. This role also offers the opportunity to promote in-venue events such as Kamayan Feasts and Sushi Rolling sessions, encouraging guests to engage more deeply with the restaurant’s offerings.
Overall, the Server position at Sunda New Asian is perfect for individuals who excel in customer service, enjoy working in a lively environment, and have a passion for hospitality and Southeast Asian cuisine. If you are organized, have strong communication skills, and can work well as part of a team dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences, this role offers a great career prospect within a renowned dining establishment.
