The Server role at Denny's is a vital position responsible for enhancing the guest dining experience by delivering courteous, efficient, and enthusiastic service. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 30 lbs
  • ability to raise a tray weighing up to 25 lbs to shoulder height
  • able to bend, stoop, reach, wipe, lift, and grab
  • sufficient mobility to move and operate in the work area
  • ability to stand and walk throughout a 4 to 8-hour shift
  • able to hear well in a loud environment
  • meet state, county or municipal health regulations for food handling
  • observe and differentiate between monetary denominations
  • able to serve all menu products
  • operate the point of sale system
  • work around potentially hazardous chemicals
  • communicate effectively in English orally and in writing
  • pass all required tests and training
  • work a flexible schedule including holidays, nights and weekends
  • dependability and ability to learn basic tasks and follow instructions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior experience in a customer service or foodservice role advantageous
  • basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • excellent guest service and communication skills
  • ability to use point of sale systems efficiently
  • knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • ability to work effectively in a team environment

Job Duties

  • Greet guests immediately upon arrival
  • assist with seating guests using proper rotation
  • take and enter orders accurately into the point of sale system
  • deliver food and beverages promptly according to standards
  • suggestively sell menu items to achieve guest check targets
  • attend to guests promptly throughout their dining experience
  • pre-bus, clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently
  • address guest complaints and requests courteously and promptly
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of dining and service areas
  • adhere to cash handling procedures and company policies
  • assist team members willingly without being asked
  • complete all required side work including deep cleaning
  • demonstrate knowledge of menu and station breakdowns
  • use proper telephone etiquette and assist with takeout orders
