Job Description

The University Plaza Waterfront Hotel is a prominent hospitality establishment located in the heart of Stockton's Waterfront district. Positioned conveniently next to key landmarks such as the Stockton Arena, Banner Island Ballpark, and the Civic Auditorium, this hotel enjoys close proximity to various city, county, and state government offices and courts. The area is experiencing significant revitalization, enhancing its appeal for both tourists and business travelers. This makes the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel not only a key player in the local hospitality sector but also a destination of choice for visitors seeking comfort and convenience in Stockton's historic downtown area.

As a distinguished hotel that prides itself on delivering exceptional guest experiences, the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel emphasizes top-tier hospitality service, blending convenience, comfort, and a strategic location. The hotel's commitment to excellent service standards is evident in its well-maintained facilities and attentive staff, geared towards ensuring that every guest's stay is memorable and enjoyable. Whether catering to leisure visitors exploring Stockton's attractions or business guests attending events at nearby venues, the hotel maintains a welcoming and professional atmosphere.

The role available is that of a Hospitality Server, a vital position within the hotel's restaurant and bar operations. This is a part-time or full-time hourly wage employment opportunity compensating at $17.00 per hour. The server plays an essential role in shaping the dining experience of the guests by providing courteous, efficient, and knowledgeable service throughout their visit. Responsibilities include welcoming and seating guests, taking drink and appetizer orders, upselling current specials, and delivering orders promptly.

In addition to serving guests, the role requires attentiveness to maintaining the dining environment. This includes pre-busing tables by clearing plates, glasses, and silverware, responding to guests' requests for refills, and promoting dessert options to enhance revenue. Servers are also responsible for accurately presenting the check before the guests finish dining and clearing and resetting tables promptly for incoming customers. The position demands collaboration with the restaurant manager, bar manager, kitchen manager, and general manager to perform additional duties such as light housekeeping and restocking or prepping the restaurant and bar areas at the end of the night.

This job is ideal for individuals who value teamwork, excellent customer service, and a fast-paced work environment. It requires a friendly and engaging demeanor to interact effectively with guests and the ability to multitask efficiently to keep the dining area running smoothly. Working as a hospitality server at the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel provides an opportunity to be part of a dedicated team that supports the revitalization efforts of downtown Stockton while delivering exceptional service to diverse clientele.
