The University Plaza Waterfront Hotel, located on Stockton's vibrant Waterfront, is a premier hospitality establishment offering guests an exceptional experience in the heart of downtown Stockton. Positioned next to notable landmarks such as the Stockton Arena, Banner Island Ballpark, and the Civic Auditorium, the hotel benefits from its prime location which is within walking distance of key city, county, and state government offices and courts. As Stockton's Historic Downtown continues to undergo revitalization, the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel stands as a symbol of quality and service, committed to providing guests with an unparalleled level of comfort and hospitality. The hotel caters to a wide range of visitors, from business travelers who need convenient access to government locations to leisure tourists drawn by the area’s attractions and events. The staff at the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel take immense pride in delivering top-notch service, focusing on personalized experiences that ensure guests feel welcomed and valued during their stay.
This particular role as a server within the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel’s restaurant and bar environment is a fantastic opportunity for candidates who are customer service oriented and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. The position offers a competitive compensation starting at $17.00 per hour, reflecting the hotel’s commitment to rewarding quality service. As a server, the successful candidate will play an integral role in the dining experience for patrons by greeting guests warmly, guiding them to their tables, and providing attentive service throughout their meal. This includes taking drink and appetizer orders, promoting daily specials to enhance guest satisfaction, and delivering food orders promptly and accurately. Attention to detail is essential, as the server must ensure the dining area is well-maintained by pre-bussing tables, refilling drinks, and upselling desserts to maximize guest enjoyment and increase revenue.
Further responsibilities include presenting the correct checks to guests efficiently before the completion of their dining experience, clearing and resetting tables swiftly to accommodate new visitors, and performing light housekeeping duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting the restaurant and bar areas. The server will also assist with restocking and prepping the restaurant and bar at the end of the night to ensure that the establishment is ready for the next day’s service. Additional duties may be assigned by the Restaurant Manager, Bar Manager, Kitchen Manager, or General Manager, underscoring the importance of flexibility and teamwork in this role. This opportunity is suited for individuals who are passionate about hospitality, possess excellent communication skills, and enjoy engaging with guests in a positive and professional manner.
