The position of Server - Performance Dining is based at the University of Oklahoma and involves delivering exceptional food and beverage service at scheduled catering functions. The role is integral to ensuring that every event runs smoothly and guests receive top-notch service from setup to clean-up. Servers are responsible for assembling and delivering food and supplies to function sites, maintaining food temperatures, arranging tables and decorations according to standards, and serving guests with courtesy and professionalism. Additionally, they manage the cleanup process by ensuring that the event area is left tidy, leftover food and equipment are returned promptly to the catering facility, and that the workspace remains clean and safe. This position may also include driving a catering delivery truck, which requires a valid driver's license.

Success in this role demands strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a genuine desire to provide friendly, courteous service at all times. Servers must have an in-depth knowledge of the menu and products available to answer questions or make recommendations confidently. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must be responsible and reliable
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain food handler’s permit and alcohol servers’ permit where applicable
  • Must have a friendly and approachable demeanor

Job Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license may be required
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid food handler’s permit and/or alcohol servers’ permit where required by state law
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Previous experience in catering or food service preferred

Job Duties

  • Assembles and delivers all food and supplies for catered functions to their scheduled locations
  • Logs and maintains food temperatures
  • Arranges tables and decorations
  • Arranges buffet tables with food, beverage and service items according to standards
  • Serve food and beverages to guests
  • Thoroughly cleans location after event is completed
  • Returns food and beverages, serving equipment and utensils to catering facility
  • Distributes and collects customer comment cards for catered functions
  • Stocks, cleans and maintains catering facility and equipment
  • Ensures guests receive friendly, courteous service at all times
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of complete menu and products on hand
  • Maintains clean and safe work environment
  • Follows safety and sanitation policy and procedures at all times
  • Performs other duties as assigned
